The Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant in Malaysia opened just over a year ago in a street level space overlooking the internal boulevard at Mid Valley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur. The Brotzeit concept of offering contemporary Bavarian cuisine and premium German beers originated in Singapore in 2006 with the opening of the first Brotzeit restaurant at Vivo City. The term “Brotzeit“ is a combination of German words- “Brot” meaning bread, and “Zeit” translates as “time”- so the Bavarian expression typically refers to enjoying a meal with fresh beer.
The Brotzeit experience has proven very popular in Singapore, with two further restaurants opening at Raffles City and 313@Somerset. Further expansion of Brotzeit within the SE Asian region is anticipated in the immediate future.
The Brotzeit restaurant at Mid Valley Megamall has an attractive location at street level – with both indoor and outdoor spaces- and facing out over grass lawns and gardens. The interior design features a typical contemporary German style dining – with dark timber tables and bench seats, padded with dark brown leather. The interior room is a bright, spacious space- highlighted by the rear wall of stacked empty beer bottles that are back lighted and provide a distinctive character to the room. Along the wall opposite the bar is a full length mural depicting in cartoon style the brewing processes. The long main bar extends down from the entrance, and is an attractive combination of light and dark timbers, with a row of dark timber bar stools.
At the front of the restaurant, in the open outside air, are some high tables and stools, and then on a raised timber deck, further bench tables and seating- all overlooking the open spaces outside.

Desserts are also a specialty- with favourites such as “Apfelstrudel“- served with homemade vanilla icecream; and White Crispy Chocolate Lava Cake.

Fresh German beers- both draft and bottled- are the specialty of Brotzeit – headlined by selections of the premium PAULANER beers. Brotzeit always have at least four varieties of Paulaner draft beers on tap- with special seasonal brews exclusively imported throughout the year for Brotzeit. The Paulaner draft beers include-
- “Weissbier“- made from wheat malt, with the distinctive ‘cloudy’ appearance, and a subtle citrus nose.
- “Dunkel Hefe“- a Weissbier made from roasted wheat malt, full bodied.
- “Original Munchner Dunkel”- a typical Munich style dark lager, caramel malts provide a sweeter taste.
