Locally-inspired bar menu & cocktails shine at rooftop bar set in urban garden overlooking Raffles Hotel
October 24th, 2016
Opened back in 2005, Loof has endeared itself among Singaporeans and visitors for more than a decade with its quirky references to local cultural memes. As Singapore’s proto standalone rooftop bar, Loof has become a must-visit nightlife destination with its appealing combination of laid-back atmosphere, playful attitude and garden deck space, complemented with elevated bar bites, and drinks that evoke local culinary influences and flavours. Conceived by the on-trend hospitality group Lo & Behold (other notable group concepts include The White Rabbit, Overeasy, The Black Swan & Powder Room, and Tanjong Beach Club), the Loof team have recently refreshed the bar snacks menu and drinks list. Evolving the nostalgic-themed concept, the all-new menus embrace familiar tastes from Singapore’s rich multi-cultural heritage, infused with hallmark “Loof” sensibilities.
Bar Menu In an inspired collaboration, celebrated local chef Bjorn Shen (Artichoke and Bird Bird) has created a new menu of bar snacks for Loof. Referencing endeared local flavours, updated with a modern Singaporean touch, the new menu offers simple yet well-executed comfort dishes. Offered in four categories – skewers, chips with dips, buns, and bowls – dishes that epitomize the Mod-Sin cuisine include the Bacon Lollipop sticks of thick pancetta slabs doused with maple syrup, groundnuts, and Vietnamese pho herbs; and the Loof signature Chilli Crab Fries with waffle-cut fries, housemade chilli sauce and blue crab dip.
Cocktails The new cocktail list showcases infusions of familiar local flavours such as pandan, coffee and Milo with premium spirits to conjure up fun and flavourful drinks. Among a strong list, cocktails to try include the Kaya Lumpur with its combination of pineapple-infused rum, kaya, citrus, soda, house bitters and fresh Thai basil – a taste profile reminiscent of the traditional kaya toast sets prevalent in Singapore’s coffee shops; and the Jackfruit Bubble Tea – a rewarding concoction of jackfruit-infused vodka, plum, honey, calamansi, lemon with yoghurt, fruit and tapioca pearls.
Loof opens Monday to Saturday from 5pm – come early for the Beat The Clock Happy Hour deals – or party late into the night with resident DJs and themed party nights.
