UPDATE JULY 2014- INDOCHINE HAS CLOSED DUE TO BUILDING RENOVATIONS
December 11th, 2010
IndoChine Waterfront and Bar Opiume are superbly located on a terrace in front of the Empress Place Building in central Singapore.
Situated on the north bank of the Singapore River and overlooking the central CBD buildings the Empress Place Builiding is gazetted as a National Monument. Originally constructed in 1827 to house the colonial administration’s “Government Offices” -the building was renovated in the late 1980’s and became the home of the Asian Civilisations Museum in 2003.
Bar Opiume is a sophisticated cocktail bar with a sleek contemporary indoor bar and large outdoor terrace with comfortable leather lounge seating and live “chill-out” music from a local band in the evenings. The interior bar has blue LED lighted glass top and front panels, black leather bar stools and some sofa seating, other features include a large crystal chandelier and stone Buddha statues.
The bar is serving a full range of cocktails, vodkas and prosecco, plus wines, champagne and beer.
Adjacent to Bar Opiume is the restaurant IndoChine Waterfont– serving authentic IndoChinese cuisine in elegant settings indoors and more casual outdoor seating on the terrace. The indoor dining room design features large crystal chandeliers, large stone Buddha statues and other regional antiques.
The menu is focused on natural, fresh ingredients, incorporating raw vegetables, and with no artificial additives.
