Update 2013- Muddy Murphy’s has re-located

Muddy Murphy’s was one of the original “Irish pubs” opened in Singapore and has maintained a perennially popular following with both local residents and the expat community.  Located in the basement and lower ground floor of Orchard Hotel Shopping Arcade , at the intersection of Orchard and Claymore Roads, Muddy Murphy’s comprises an open-air “farm yard” and indoors an air-conditioned “traditional Irish cottage pub” dating back to 1840.

The interior of Muddy Murphy’s was designed and built to scale in Dublin, Ireland 15 years ago. It was then disassembled and shipped to Singapore and installed at its current location by 15 specialist Irish Pub fitters. The dark timber interior furnishings, tiled and paving stone flooring, and with the low ceiling and subdued lighting, create the authentic atmosphere of an old Irish Pub. Modern installations such as large screen TVs and a stage for live music are essential compromises to the demands of the contemporary clientele. Muddy Murphy’s always attracts large numbers of patrons for viewing rugby and Premier League football matches in particular…although other sports such as Formula I are also covered “live”.

Live music is featured on Friday and Saturday nights, and Sunday afternoons.

The “all day dining” menu includes both selections of classic “pub” dishes such as Irish Stew, Beef & Guinness Pie, Bangers & Mash, and a more contemporary selection of “gastropub” dishes such as Spatchcock Quail with truffle infused spinach, and Gammon braised in cider.  The Sunday roast lunches serve up a substantial 2 or 3 course meal at very reasonable prices-  accompanied by live music. Bar snacks are also served all day- with both Asian and western flavors- Chilli Crab Dip with wedges, Mixed Grilled Sausages, Pizzas, Spicy Chicken Drumlets, Mini Fish ‘n Chips, Burger & Fries, etc..

As would be expected from an authentic Irish pub, the drinks served at Muddy Murphy’s include the two most popular Irish ales – Guinness Draught and Kilkenny Draught. A large range of other beers- local and imported, bottles and draught, include Heineken, Tiger, ErdingerWeissbier, Old Speckled Hen and Strongbow cider. Premium spirits, wines and non-alcoholic drinks are available for the non-beer drinkers.
