The St Regis hotel brand has become synonymous with offering discerning guests a superior experience of luxurious accommodations, and an unrivaled caliber of service. The first St Regis hotel was founded in New York in 1904 by the renowned American tycoon, John Jacob Astor IV, and was an expression of the privileged lifestyle to which he was accustomed. When it opened in 2008, The St Regis Singapore was the first St Regis hotel in South East Asia and set new benchmarks for luxury hotels in the region. Conveniently located on Tanglin Road, at the junction of Orchard Road, the hotel is a short walk to the adjacent bustling retail and entertainment attractions of Orchard Road, and is also within the exclusive embassy district of Singapore.
The Astor Bar at The St Regis Singapore takes its name from the founder of the St Regis– John Jacob Astor IV. The bar is prominently located at the entrance rotunda to the main hotel lobby and is entered through huge double doors of highly polished brass. The decor of the bar is suffused with an air of understated elegance and luxury. Traditional elements of luxury- rich timbers and plush red and brown leathers- are incorporated into contemporary styled furniture. The frontage of the room, facing the outside street, features a soaring space with full height glazing that bathes the interior with natural light. A luxurious padded leather banquette, matched with brown leather armchairs and round, glass topped tables, runs continuously under the glass facade. The bar itself is placed deep inside the room – and exudes a warm, welcoming aura- with a polished dark and black granite bar counter, red leather upholstered bar stools and an attractively lighted back bar display.
Another element of aesthetic sophistication within the bar is the collection of original Pablo Picasso lithographs, from his famous “Toro” series, that are displayed on the rear wall.

The bars at St Regis properties world wide are renowned for their creative cocktails- drawing on a rich history of excellence with libations dating back to the legendary King Cole Bar at the flagship hotel- The St Regis New York. The creation of the now ubiquitous Bloody Mary cocktail is credited to the bartender at the King Cole Bar, who in 1934 perfected his recipe for the cocktail based on vodka, tomato juice and spiced with pepper, salt, lemon and Worcestershire Sauce. Originally named as the “Red Snapper“- the cocktail was later renamed as the Bloody Mary. The tradition that has evolved within St Regis has been for each property worldwide to create their own interpretation of the Bloody Mary, using local flavours and influences, and this has resulted in a World Collection Bloody Mary menu that can be enjoyed at St Regis bars worldwide.
The contribution from the Astor Bar in Singapore has been named the Chilli Padi Mary– and the recipe comprises vodka, chilli padi, Chinese old ginger and lemon grass, with fresh organic cherry tomato juice. The spiciness of this concoction references the popular culinary flavors of South East Asia and provides a zestful stimulation to the palate.

The Astor Bar menu includes premium spirits, single malt whiskys, and a large range of premium wines- both bottles and by the glass.
The nightly appreciation of champagne is another quintessential element of the St Regis heritage. The ritual of opening champagne for guests to taste is part of the inimitable style at St Regis bars world wide. At the Astor Bar a selection of four house pour champagnes are offered- Ruinart Blanc de Blanc; Krug Multi Vintage; Veuve Clicquot Demi-Sec; and Moet & Chandon Grand Vintage 2000.
