Loewy is a perennially popular, highly regarded venue in Jakarta, featuring informal all-day “bistro style” dining, and in the evenings, an exuberant bar that serves up an impressive variety of cocktails and drinks. Conceived in the mold of the classical Parisian brasserie of the early 20th Century, Loewy opened in 2008. The kitchen serves a menu of hearty European bistro food, complimented with selections of favourite Asian dishes.
Loewy is located in a large, open space on the street level of the prestigious Oakwood Premier Cozmo Apartment complex, within the rapidly developing Mega Kuningan business district of central Jakarta. Facing out onto a huge green roundabout, immediate neighbours of Loewy include the 5-star hotels of Ritz Carlton and JW Marriott, plus a large number of new office towers and residential properties. Open daily ( Monday – Friday) from 7:30 am to serve breakfast, Loewy is a popular venue for the office workers and residents of Mega Kuningan area, either for complete meals, or just to drop in anytime during the day for coffee or refreshments, and in the evenings to unwind with some enticing cocktails. The well executed all-day brasserie and bar concept of Loewy, combined with an easily accessible location, attracts patrons from all over Jakarta. Evenings are generally busy and table bookings are recommended.

The interior floor space of Loewy is of generous proportions- allowing for an impressive main bar that stretches for 15 metres across the back wall- and a spacious main dining room. Additionally, an outdoor section of tables spans the entire facade. The interior design draws on the quintessential French bistro style of cafe / brasserie, with dark timber floor boards, the classic “Thonet” timber bistro chairs, leather banquettes in both booth configuration , and also as a long bench seating arrangement at one end of the room. The ceilings feature the pressed tin and copper panels typical of the early 20th century cafes. White brick walls further add to the “period” atmosphere of the interior. The facade of Loewy features full height folding glass panels which open up entirely to suffuse the interior with daytime brightness.
The design of the bar area features “retro” elements- with attractively lighted timber and mirrored shelving behind the bar for the bottle displays, and “industrial” style lights that are suspended over the long white marble bar counter. The industrial design elements channel the name behind the restaurant- the mid-20th Century French-American industrial designer Raymond Loewy. Some of his iconic designs included the contoured Coca Cola bottles, several models of Studebaker cars, Lucky Strike cigarette packaging, and the Greyhound buses. In recognition to his design heritage, table settings at Loewy feature original vintage Coca Cola bottles as vases.

The atmosphere in the bar area at Loewy takes on an exuberant nature in the evenings- with a good crowd of drinkers, and music that becomes more up-tempo as the night progresses. The resident mixologists take great pride in their concoctions, and the bar-tending takes on a sense of dramatic performance. Specialising in serving classic, and strong, cocktails- with some contemporary twists- the menu features selections of Martinis; Muddled cocktails; “Fresh & Tall”; “The Classics”; and “Blended & Creamy“. Additionally, the bar at Loewy boasts one of the largest selections of single malts in Jakarta. An extensive wine list offers both bottles, and wines by the glass.
Promotional offers on selected beers offer good value for group sharing – or thirsty individuals.

ABSINTHE FONTAINE– the antique style Absinthe Tower contains Mint leaves, peeled Cucumber skin, slices of lemon and filled with ice and cold water. Served from the four taps- pour over sugar cube into glass containing Absinthe liqueur & stir.
The bistro-style cuisine served at Loewy is under the guidance of Chef Benoit Claeys- a Belgian native with extensive culinary experience. The menu features the home-cooking style of comfort food, simple and uncomplicated, including bistro classics such as Organic Roast Half Chicken; Grilled Tuna steak; New Zealand Rack of Lamb; and Duck A’ La Normandie. Also included- Appetizers, Soups, Salads, and the ultimate French-Belgian bistro classic- “Steak Frites”– with numerous varieties of prime cuts flame grilled and served with mix salad and pommes frites. The Asian cuisine selections include- Tom Yam Soup; Hainanese Chicken Rice; Nasi Campur; and Thai Duck Curry.
Standout selections from the Dessert menu include the Mille Feuille; Classic Creme Brulee; Profterole; and a variety of Tarts with fresh seasonal fruits.
The Breakfast Menu served from 7:30 am on weekdays includes choices of English Breakfast; Continental Breakfast; Porridge Breakfast; and Indonesian Fried Rice– all served with free coffee or tea. Other dishes include Eggs in any style; Belgian Waffle; and Fresh Fruit Platters.
