Bangkok’s venerable Bamboo Bar at the Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok welcomes Yukiyo Kurihara- Chief Bartender of Mandarin Bar, Mandarin Oriental Tokyo

Making a special guest appearance this week at Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok’s legendary Bamboo Bar, Yukiyo Kurihara will present her signature cocktails and artistic approach to mixology. Creating cocktails with an elegant and sophisticated technique has helped define her leading position within the Japanese bartending community. Recognized as one of the world’s top 10 bartenders, Kurihara has been chosen to represent mixologists from Tokyo in international competitions, and she has won numerous awards within the Japanese liquor and bartending industry events.

As Chief Bartender at Mandarin Bar of Mandarin Oriental Tokyo, Kurihara heads up a team of female-only bartenders at the bar, setting a high standard for personable and welcoming service that is particularly comforting to female customers. She has created a number of signature cocktails for Mandarin Bar, including the Glorious Martini – made from Galliano (vanilla), rose syrup and Grand Marnier, plus lemon juice and finished with lemon peel rubbed on the rim for aroma sensation.

NIHONBASHI COCKTAIL–  original cocktail creation of Yukiyo Kurihara– a refreshing vodka-based cocktail mixed with yuzu liqueur and grapefruit juice, shimmers in turquoise blue symbolising the Nihonbashi area, while emerald green represents swaying willows along the river. The drink’s lime peel suggests the area’s namesake bridge.

The Bamboo Bar has a limited offer on a wide range of concoctions, especially the Glorious Martini, signature cocktail of Yukiyo Kurihara, one of the world’s top 10 bartenders.
