After a major refurbishment in early 2012, Pullman Bangkok Hotel G was launched as the new iteration of what was formerly the Sofitel Bangkok. The Hotel G “lifestyle” concept brings a contemporary, design focused approach that resonates with a new generation of discerning travellers seeking more than the typical “cookie cutter” approach to hotel accommodations. Embracing a chic, somewhat edgy design ethos, the dining and drinking spaces within Pullman Bangkok Hotel G provide both guests and locals with some intriguing new choices for evenings of relaxed fun and superb food and beverages.
The Playground Bubbles & Mixology Bars exemplify the Hotel G experience- taking a refreshing new approach to the traditional “lobby bar” and hotel cocktail bar concepts. Playground has a split personality- with an imposing dark timber bar counter that dominates the entrance and lobby space of the hotel, and a more discreet, intimately scaled “mixology” bar located on the mezzanine level. during the day, the lobby level Playground bar becomes the vibrant social hub of the hotel, where guests and visitors can comfortably relax at the bar counter- meet friends, read a newspaper, go on-line, and of course enjoy a sumptuous cocktail or glass of champagne. In the evenings the tempo becomes more upbeat- with a happy hour from 8 pm to 10 pm, and resident DJs spinning tunes on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Upstairs, at the mezzanine level, Playground beckons the cocktail aficionado in a discretely elegant space of whimsical decor and exceptional mixology. Heading up the bar team at Playground is a mixology and gastronomy specialist from Spain- Albert Mozley. Albert brings to Playground his extensive skills and international experience in the creation of truly innovative cocktail concoctions, and with his infectious passion and enthusiasm, ensures guests enjoy a memorable cocktail adventure. In addition to his alluring signature cocktail creations, Albert delights in creating bespoke cocktails to the particular taste preferences of his guests.
Playground is open daily from 10 am at the lobby Level Bar, and from 4 pm at the mezzanine level Mixology Bar.
The lobby level Playground Bar
The drinks menu for the the lobby level Playground bar is a concise list of refreshing fruit and “bubbles” based cocktails, plus selections of smoothies and mocktails. “Bubble Me” cocktails include Champagne Cocktail- cognac, angostura bitters, brown sugar & champagne; Bellini- Peach liqueur, peach juice & champagne; and Hello Kitty- vanilla vodka, fresh raspberry & champagne. And the “Smart-inis” include Apple Martini- vodka, cointreau, apple liqueur, green apple & lime; Perfect Passion- vodka, cointreau, passion fruit juice & vanilla syrup; and Green Thai- rosemary vodka, cointreau, basil, apple juice & lime.
The massive timber-planked bar counter extends the entire length of the whitewashed brick wall in the lobby area. The staircase leading to the mezzanine level bar is at the far end of the bar counter.

Mezzanine Level Mixology Bar
The Mixologist Menu as created by the resident mixologist Albert Mozley offers a well balanced range of both classic cocktails with a twist, and his signature creations, highlighted by a selection of concoctions under the Molecular Experience category. The headline cocktail is his signature creation for Playground– titled The “G” Effect– combining Hendrick’s Gin, cucumber syrup, and rose champagne. Other cocktail categories include the “Bubble Me” champagne-based cocktails- with some additional varieties not included on the lobby level list; “Smart-inis“– also with additional options including Billionaire Boys- pear vodka, pear juice, cinnamon syrup, lime & pear williams; and Fast & Furious- gin, cointreau, syrup, lime, watermelon & cranberry. Other cocktail categories include- “Long Drinks” such as Call Me Jack- Jack Daniels, frangelico, cointreau, strawberry, orgeat & lime; and the “Tropics”– Bangkok Dangerous- cachaca , lime, blackberry, chambord syrup & club soda.

The decor for Playground has a whimsical, retro feel. Objets d’art are inserted into sections of the French-panelled wall of the lounge section.
An eclectic collection of curios and objets d’art are displayed throughout the bar.
The interior features a palette of muted tones- with dark timber floor boards and tables contrasting with the off-white lounge furnishings and sheer curtains.
The stylish timber panelled bar counter has an intimate proportion – with candelabra suspended over the bar adding a nice touch of elegance to the decor.
An antique drinks trolley provides a table-side drinks service platform for guests.

The bespoke cocktail preparation includes a playful presentation- themed on the style and flavours of the cocktail.
“On The Floor”- Bombay Sapphire Gin, Amaro Averna, fresh lime, syrup, topped with tonic water.
“Sleep Walk”- Vodka, Apricot Brandy, fresh lime, vanilla syrup, Sprite.
