Chic venue captivates Bangkok diners with superb French cuisine and impressive, fairly priced wine list
December 31st, 2012
Scarlett Wine Bar and Restaurant opened early in 2012 in a lofty space on the penultimate floor of the fashionable Pullman Bangkok Hotel G in downtown Bangkok. A contemporary, lifestyle themed restaurant and bar, serving a traditional French cuisine, complimented with a large selection of wines at reasonable prices, the concept for Scarlett was first launched at an acclaimed sibling property- Beijing Hotel G- several years ago. Reflecting the sleek design and chic lifestyle of the Hotel G concept, Scarlett in Bangkok exudes a vibrant atmosphere, ideal for both relaxed yet stylish dining, and as a chill out venue for friends to enjoy some fine wines whilst taking in the brilliant views offered from the heights of the 37th floor space. The expansive venue includes a large restaurant dining room and bar space, plus an open air terrace section for a more casual atmosphere.
The stellar cuisine served at Scarlett is firmly grounded in traditional French cooking techniques and recipes, and is the product of an ongoing collaboration between Executive Chef Sylvain Royer, and renowned Parisian restaurateur and Michelin 2 star Chef Manuel Martinez. The menu features an impressive variety of cold cuts and cheese, tapas dishes, daily and seasonal specialties, and a highlighted selection of traditional French dishes created by Chef Manuel Martinez and grouped under “Old Time Favourites”.
The Wine List at Scarlett is a well-formed collection of over 150 labels – the bottles showcased in an impressive glass-fronted cellar at the entrance to the restaurant. Wines by the glass are featured- with the selection of 10 varieties frequently updated on the chalkboard menus. The bar also offers a concise range of cocktails that are also updated on a regular basis- with details listed on chalkboards above the bar counter. The outdoor terrace is splendid option for after-work drinks and watching the fabulous sunsets. Live DJs on Friday and Saturday nights and some buzz to the chill out atmosphere.
Scarlett opens nightly (except Sundays) at 6:00 pm for dinner, and with the restaurant solidly busy every night- popular with locals and hotel guests alike, bookings are strongly recommended.
