Spectacular new rooftop bar & glamorous lounge at Gardens by the Bay, Singapore
January 9th, 2013
Singapore has in recent years garnered a globally respected reputation for conceiving a series of bold landmark developments that have helped re-define the city-state as a truly cosmopolitan global city. Following on from the massively successful Marina Bay Sands project, the latest mega-project has been the opening of the Gardens by the Bay– a horticultural extravaganza located on 100 hectares of reclaimed land between Marina Bay and the southern coast. In addition to the clusters of conservatories, acres of natural greenery, lakes, and garden walkways, the imposing collection of “SuperTree” structures that rise up to 50 metres in height provide the stand-out visual feature and take their place among the other iconic structures of Singapore.
Situated at the pinnacle of the tallest of the SuperTrees is the latest dining and party venue of the acclaimed Singaporean IndoChine restaurant group. SuperTree by IndoChine combines an open-air rooftop deck bar- with rotating deck, and an air-conditioned lounge and dining room immediately below the rooftop, to create a spectacular new lifestyle destination for visitors and locals alike.
Guests on the rooftop deck enjoy unobstructed 360° views that encompass the skyscrapers of the CBD, the adjacent Marina Bay Sands, and to the south, the greenery of the ocean coastline. The views from the indoor lounge immediately below are no less impressive, and with full height glass enclosing the entire space- every table and seat has a clear view. The interior is styled as two themed hemispheres- Eastern and Western, with the custom-made decor and eclectic furnishings adding elements of glamour and luxury.
SuperTree by IndoChine serve the sumptuous blend of Indochinese and Western cuisines that have delighted diners in the other IndoChine restaurants. The cuisine if firmly founded on holistic principles of eco-sustainability, and utilising healthy, organic produce- crafted into the signature IndoChine style of ‘nutriceutical’ food. The well-formed menu offers a variety of Platters for sharing- including sashimi, sushi, garden greens, and seafood. Other light bites include a wide selection of tapas style dishes- highlights include Bó La Lot – Grilled Beef in Wild Betel Leaves; Nem Khao Hor – Roasted Organic Brown Rice Cake Rolls with Minced Chicken; Crispy Lychee with Kurobuta Pork Loin & Bacon; and Red Drum Fish Carpaccio.
Stand-out Main courses include – Lemongrass Kampong Chicken- Wild Mushroo m Risotto & Crispy Pancetta; Grilled Portobello Steak, Wild Mushroo m Risotto & Poached Asparagus; and Grilled Lemongrass Tiger Prawns, Wild Rocket.
Beverages served at SuperTree by IndoChine include healthy tropical fruit juice mocktails, beers, wines and champagnes, premium spirits, 15 varieties of sake, and an extensive list of cocktails. The cocktails feature many varieties of martini- classics and house concoctions with a twist; and an impressively extensive choice of the most popular classic cocktails.
SuperTree by IndoChine is open daily from 10 am, but is most popular in the evenings- particularly on the rooftop deck- which is ideal for viewing the dramatic light and sound shows at the SuperTree Grove- and also the sunset and evening views of the CBD skyline are at their most attractive. Bookings are recommended- especially for weekend evenings.
The Gardens by the Bay features clusters of super-sized “trees”- connected by an elevated walkway. SuperTree by IndoChine sits atop the largest “tree” in the SuperTree Grove- and is the only “SuperTree” with dining and bar facilities.
