Superbly located atop one of Hong Kong’s iconic landmarks- The Peak- Cafe Deco has enjoyed nearly 20 years of serving both international visitors and local diners with an enticing selection of well executed international cuisines, and showcasing the fabulous panoramic views across the Hong Kong skyline and beyond. First opened back in 1994, Cafe Deco occupies an expansive space of 15,000 sq ft spread over two levels of The Peak Galleria complex- directly opposite the Peak Tram terminus. Cafe Deco offers patrons a variety of dining and drinking options, with separate bars on each level, casual dining spaces and show-kitchens on the lower level, and a more sophisticated dining and lounge environment on the upper level. Owned and operated by the highly regarded local restaurant company- Cafe Deco Group- the Cafe Deco at The Peak is the flagship restaurant of the more than 35 outlets operated by the group in Hong Kong, Macau and Sydney.

Taking its design cues from the exuberant opulence and glitz of the “art deco” period of the 1920’s, the interior of Cafe Deco exemplifies the style and glamour of  “art deco”, with an impressive attention to detail and the use of many authentic art deco pieces throughout the interior. Last year a significant refurbishment was undertaken to both refresh the interior spaces, and also add a new Patisserie kitchen and counter adjacent to the main entrance.  A suite of three private dining rooms were added to the upper level, with seating capacities ranging from 12 to 24. Added flexibility for events is possible by combining and opening out all, or some of the rooms, into larger private function spaces.

The culinary team at Cafe Deco, under the direction of Executive Chef Martin Kniss, create daily a broad selection of International cuisines at a series of open show kitchens- each overseen by specialist chefs to ensure authenticity. Cuisines served include Western- grills, pasta and pizza, seafood and a Parisian Oyster Bar; Japanese- sushi and sashimi; Indian- from tandoori oven; and Asian rice, noodle and curry dishes. Notably, Cafe Deco have recently introduced a “Sustainable Seafood & Ocean Friendly Selection”- based closely on the published guidelines of the WWF Hong Kong. And at the new Patisserie a wide range of tempting delicacies are expertly hand-crafted by the in-house pastry chefs. Desserts include sumptuous souffles, gourmet gelato flavors, and classic tarts and cakes. A popular new offering from the Patisserie is the Afternoon Tea Set– served daily (except Saturdays) from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm- priced at HK$228 for one person, and HK$428 for two sharing. And on Saturdays the sumptuous Saturday Afternoon Tea Buffet offers great value and an abundance of sweet and savory temptations.

A finely-tuned beverage program includes a concise selection of classic cocktails such as Martinis, Mojito, Caipirinha, and Champagne cocktails, supplemented by a wide range of wines and champagnes, with around 20 varieties served by the glass. Other drinks include fresh juice quenchers, smoothies, gourmet teas, and coffees.

Cafe Deco is open for all-day dining, 365 days throughout the year- weekends and evenings are particularly busy- and reservations are recommended for the window front tables.
