The Diageo Reserve WORLD CLASS 2014 Singapore Final
On March 21st, ten of Singapore’s best bartenders competed in front of a live audience and an industry judging panel- with a rigorous competition format that comprised two distinct challenges– Mystery Box and Cocktails against the Clock- and over eight hours duration.
Mystery Box Challenge– handed a “mystery box ” containing culinary ingredients of cinnamon sticks, prosciutto ham, vinegar and chrysanthemum flowers, each bartender had 30 minutes to create two original recipes that included these ingredients, plus additional ingredients (maximum of four) of their choice. A further allocation of 10 minutes behind the bar followed- to prepare and present their cocktails to the judging panel. Points were awarded for balance of taste, presentation and technique across the two cocktails.
Cocktails against the Clock– this challenge tested each bartender for their speed, knowledge and efficiency in creating a maximum of 10 cocktails in the allotted time of eight minutes. Judging criteria focused on their ability to balance speed with skill to serve multiple, great tasting drinks, whilst also engaging with the audience.

Regional Southeast Asia Finals – to be held in Singapore May 15th & 16th.
Finalists from Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia, will be be competing to be crowned 2014 World Class Bartender Southeast Asia, and additionally as their country winner and representative at the Global Finals scheduled for July 2014 in Great Britain.
