A cosmopolitan approach to cafe culture for sociable all-day eating and drinking
March 19th, 2014
Emerging in a quiet residential soi (street) in Bangkok’s upscale Sathorn district in June 2013, Rocket Coffeebar introduced a fresh approach to the neighbourhood cafe concept in Thailand. Taking inspiration from a handful of the global trendsetters of cafe culture- San Francisco, Sydney and Stockholm- Rocket Coffeebar embraces a casual, laid-back style of all day food and beverage service that belies an underlying meticulous professionalism and attention to detail. An inspired convergence of in-house bakery, artisanal coffee, fresh organic produce and creative mixology differentiates Rocket Coffeebar from the plethora of small Bangkok cafes. Offering a seamless eating and drinking experience that transitions through the course of the day- commencing with freshly baked breads and pastries served early in the mornings- followed with a compact menu of contemporary European cafe dishes made from local organic produce served all day- and in the evenings, with the accompaniment of wines, and the house specialty of gourmet dessert and cocktail pairings, a convivial unwind.
Rocket Coffeebar was founded by the highly regarded Swedish trio of mixologists who in recent years had introduced a new level of sophistication and innovation to Bangkok’s cocktail scene with their collaboration at the ultra-popular Hyde & Seek Gastrobar. Having successfully launched Rocket Coffeebar, recent months have seen the same team unveiling sibling venues within the adjoining shophouse premises- Lady Brett Tavern, and the upscale cocktail bar- U.N.C.L.E.
Cafe cuisine & beverages
Delivering a consistently excellent coffee service, the baristas at Rocket Coffeebar only use carefully selected small-batch roasted beans, and work their skills with the cutting edge Synesso Hydra espresso machine, and Mahikönig grinders. Evenings at Rocket Coffeebar entice with a well-crafted selection of mostly boutique European wines, several classic cocktails and aperitifs, and the specialty combinations of desserts and gourmet cocktails- with indulgent pairings such as Chocolate Universe- Black Forest brownie, peanut butter-orange semifreddo, warm chocolate cake, chocolate-cinnamon-rum ice cream- paired with Liquid Universe Cocktail- Bourbon, cassis liqueur, citrus, black currants, blackberries, and fresh northern mint.
