A wide selection of gourmet international cuisines are created by The Water Library chefs-including hearty brunch options, all-day comfort foods such as salads, sandwiches, pasta and Asian dishes, and selections of modern tapas-style plates- ideal accompaniments with the alluring cocktail creations. 1881 by Water Library entices as a relaxed all-day retreat for light snacks, lunch and coffee, which transforms in the evenings into a vibrant destination for consummate mixology and intimate live music.
Bangkok residents and visitors familiar with the accomplished gastronomy of The Water Library will recognise the same creative culinary pedigree deployed in the kitchen at 1881. Under the direction of chef de cuisine Urs Lustenberger, the food served at 1881 is cooked with the hallmark focus on highest quality fresh produce, exemplary technique and appetizing presentation, albeit at approachable prices. Equally alluring, the handsome bar is the setting for the 1881 barttenders to craft their renditions of cocktails designed by the internationally renowned Water Library head mixologist- Mirko Gardelliano. A thoughtfully assembled drinks list features a comprehensive repertoire of contemporary mixology- everything from molecular creations to house infusions and barrel aged cocktails should satiate the most discerning cocktail fans. Prominently located on a corner space of the first floor of the Groove complex, 1881 by Water Library combines indoor dining and bar service with an open-air terrace section that abuts the Groove atrium. 1881 opens daily from 11:00 am until 1:00 am- serving a full menu all day, plus additional special menus such as the Set Lunch promotion. An after-work MAD HOURS promotion offers attractive discounts on drinks, and nightly music entertainment includes both live bands and resident DJs.

Taking design inspiration (and name) from the industrial era of the late 19th Century, 1881 exudes a stylish execution of “industrial chic”- with an elaborate installation of pipe works and valves mounted against the raw brickwork walls. The substantial bar anchors the interior space- with indoor seating at tables and black leather banquettes opposite the bar.
