Taking over the restored terrace space previously occupied by Keong Saik Snacks on inner Singapore’s conservation listed Keong Saik Road, The Study embodies a fresh approach to casual dining in the increasingly chic neighbourhood. Continuing their successful restaurant collaboration  in Singapore- celebrated UK chef Jason Atherton and his Singaporean partner- Unlisted Collections– have introduced a new menu grounded on the familiar comfort foods that are the cornerstone of contemporary British bistro cuisine. Exuding a laid-back, social approach, the intimately scaled interior of The Study features simple cafe tables and chairs, enlivened by a bright red upholstered banquette setting, and colorful retro posters on the deconstructed walls. An open kitchen, fronted by a gleaming copper-sheaved bar counter, connects the culinary team with diners in the cosy open-space bistro.

Additionally, The Study enjoys a symbiotic relationship with its next door neighbour (under the same ownership)- the renowned cocktail den, The Library. Evening dinner guests at The Study have access to the concealed bar and its famed mixology- without the usual requirement for password-only entry through the pop-up retail frontage next door.

Open for lunch and dinner daily, The Study seats up to 30 guests in casual comfort, at both tables, and the bar. The Weekend Punch Brunch is always popular- bookings are recommended.

Heading up the kitchen at The Study is Executive Chef Andrew Walsh- well-known locally for his continuing stewardship and consummate cuisine at Esquina– the mega-popular tapas bar nearby. A compact, well-constructed menu offers diners selections of starters, mains and desserts. Dishes that epitomise the contemporary British bistro cuisine include starters such as Trout Tartare, with sea urchin mayonnaise, sourdough, capers and lime, and Iberico pork & foie gras scotch egg, served with pickled beetroot and capers. Appetizing main dishes include the Lamb Rump with peas, broad beans, grilled baby gem, mint and pinenut pesto; and Roasted Duck with creamed cabbage and duck fat baby potatoes.

The Library- highlights from new cocktail list

Recently installed as bar manager and head bartender at The Library, Nicholas Quattroville has a culinary background honed in both his native Sydney, and subsequently in London. After joining the Jason Atherton-owned speakeasy bar & restaurant The Blind Pig in London as assistant bar manager in 2013, Nicholas has now re-located to Singapore to further evolve his creative approach in creating unique cocktails- particularly working with flavours derived from combinations of culinary ingredients and premium liquors. Bespoke cocktails from the talented bartenders further enhance the drinking experience for a discerning clientele. Some highlights from his quirky new cocktail menu are featured below.
