Quintessential Italian style steakhouse with authentic farm to table beef at Causeway Bay restaurant
August 30th, 2014
Named after the Italian word for “beef”, Manzo in Hong Kong offers an impressive steak-centric dining experience at approachable prices. Conceived in the mold of the traditional steak houses of Italy, Manzo delivers an authentic menu of rustic north Italian cuisine in a handsome dining space set within the mega-popular Times Square retail and lifestyle mall, at the heart of Hong Kong’s shopping epicentre – Causeway Bay. Manzo was launched in 2011 by the highly regarded local restaurant group Dining Concepts, part of a portfolio that includes notable steak restaurants such Bistecca, BLT Steak and Craft Steak. Open daily for both lunch and dinner, Manzo attracts a steady crowd of diners with its authentic Italian steak cuisine, excellent wine cellar of mostly Italian labels, and rustic yet warm decor with a relaxed dining atmosphere.
Located within the cluster of fine dining restaurants at Times Square, Manzo offers a variety of table options within its open layout. The classic, yet contemporary steak house decor features “aged” brown brick walls, unpolished timber floors, and solid wood tables with leather upholstered chairs. A series of booth settings extend across one side of the main dining space, with elegant leather banquette settings on the opposite side of the room. At the rear of the room, an open kitchen overlooks the “farm table” antipasto buffet, with glass fronted meat aging cabinets showcasing the premium cuts of beef.
Adding authenticity to its “farm to table” meat program, Manzo have contracted a specific cattle ranch to raise red and black Angus cattle exclusively for the restaurant, ensuring quality, sustainability and certified origin. Manzo additionally sources prime cuts of USDA and Australian beef – variously aged. Cooked very simply in the traditional Italian fashion, steaks are served with black truffle butter and jus, with optional sides selected from the menu. Signature cuts include the famous Tuscan steak- Fiorentina – a large flavourful T-bone of 35 oz that is best shared by two or three people. In addition to the headline steaks, the menu provides selections of antipasto, pasta, insalate, and classic Italian desserts. And the list of “Butcher’s Specialties” includes Roasted Chicken with Foie Gras; and Pan-seared Hokkaido Scallops. A daily Set Lunch menu offers a range of excellent value combinations, with the weekend Brunch Menu equally attractive.
Manzo is open daily from 12:00 pm for lunch, and 6:00 pm for dinner. Reservations are recommended – particularly on the weekends.
