The renowned Jim Thompson group, globally famous for their exquisite hand-crafted silk fabrics and fashion, have for more than 20 years operated an expanding collection of authentic Thai cuisine restaurants – in Bangkok, Singapore, and also Japan. Set within the historic Dempsey Hills cluster of restored colonial-era military barracks, the flagship Singapore restaurant occupies an impressively proportioned building, elegantly decorated in a contemporary Thai aesthetic, and offering spacious dining both indoors, and on the outdoor terrace. Acclaimed for their consummate renditions of authentic Thai cuisine, the Thai chefs at Jim Thompson add some modern twists to classic recipes, offering an enticing selection of dishes on the extensive a la carte menu.
Recently Jim Thompson have introduced special weekend buffet lunch promotions – with their “Luk Tung Temple Fair” themed, country style Thai Food Buffet on Saturdays; and a traditional Thai cuisine Buffet on Sundays. In addition to the impressive array of buffet dishes, diners also have the option of ordering from a supplementary a la carte buffet menu on both days. Buffet dishes encompass many popular Thai dishes including freshly prepared Som Tdam green papaya salad; cooked to order Ayutthaya Boat Noodles and Khao Soi Gai Northern Thai curry noodle with chicken; Tom Yam Goong hot and sour prawns soup; and Phad Cha Talay stir-fried seafood with ginger, peppercorn and chilies. Buffet selections also include a broad variety of appetisers, spicy Thai salads, curries, stir-fried dishes, and desserts.
Both the Saturday and Sunday lunch buffets are attractively priced at S$68 with free flow soft drinks, lemongrass and fruit juice; or S$98 for free flow Singha beer and house wine.
Complementing the tastes of the authentic Thai cuisine, the bar team at Jim Thompson have created a tantalising list of Signature and “Taste of Thailand” cocktails. Classic cocktails are give the hallmark “Jim Thompson” twist with the inclusion of Thai culinary ingredients to create refreshing, well-balanced drinks. Examples that exemplify this approach include Signature drinks like the Siam Sunray – lemongrass infused vodka, malibu rum, homemade mint syrup, fresh lemongrass, kaffir lime, ginger & red chili; and the Tropical Thai Caipirinha – cachaca, fresh strawberries, fresh mango, red chili, brown sugar and fresh lime juice.
Jim Thompson Thai Restaurant & Wine Bar opens Monday to Saturday between 12 pm and 12 pm; and Sundays between 12 pm and 11 pm. Bookings are recommended.
