Spectacular rooftop bar & restaurant 55 floors above the heart of Bangkok’s premier shopping district

Exemplifying the compelling attraction of combining stellar views with great drinks and dining, Red Sky Bistro & Bar is one of Bangkok’s standout rooftop establishments. Located in the heart of Bangkok’s pulsating Ratchaprasong shopping district, Red Sky occupies both the 5th and 56th floors of the Centara Grand hotel – directly atop the gargantuan CentralWorld shopping mall. The bistro occupies the entire 55th floor – with both indoor and outdoor dining sections – and the solely outdoor bar deck of the 56th floor wraps around the circular core of the building providing an uninterrupted 360 degree panorama of the sprawling Bangkok metropolis. An instant hit with both tourists and local Bangkokians since its opening in 2008, a recent renovation and menu refresh should ensure its continuing popularity as one of Bangkok’s “must visit” rooftop destinations. Sunset drinks followed by dinner under the evening skies make for memorable moments – and great photo ops.
At the upper bar level, guests can choose from a variety of seating options set around the circular decked space – casual rattan sofas and armchairs, comfortable daybeds, and high tables and chairs. At the spacious front deck section, overlooking the bistro on the level below, jazz musicians perform nightly, while an attractive “Happy Hour” promotion between 5 pm and 7 pm adds further enticement to the spectacular sunset experience. In addition to the fabulous views, the bar at Red Sky offers selections of well-executed cocktails – highlighted with a list of 15 Martini varieties – plus the Signature Martinis– four special creations each topped with a foam cap. Further cocktail selections include first-rate renditions of both classic and contemporary cocktails. The extensive drinks list also offers a broad range of wines by the glass, champagnes and premium spirits, all complemented by some tasty bar snacks.
Recently taking over the kitchen at Red Sky, Chef de Cuisine Hugo Coudurier has introduced a revamped menu, featuring a modern international cuisine grounded in solid French cooking techniques. Highlights of the new a la carte menu include the monthly Seasonal Tasting Menu of Chef Coudier; a spectacular Seafood on Ice sharing platter from the Seafood Bar; and standout dishes like the Butter Roasted Nova Scotia Lobster “Vol au Vent” – served with a creamy mushroom and light lobster sauce; Charcoal oven baked Atlantic Cod – with saffron creamed potato, mussels, and Bouillabaisse sauce; and the Charcoal oven roast whole Spanish suckling goat leg “Choto Lechal” – served with olive oil roasted vegetables. Delicious desserts are also a specialty – try the Profiteroles with warm chocolate sauce – with ice cream, chantilly, and toasted almonds; or the Caramelized Apple Tart – with vanilla ice cream.
Red Sky is open daily from 5 pm for the bar, and 6 pm at the bistro. Table bookings are recommended for the outdoor bistro deck – with indoor tables available in the event of inclement weather. Private groups and parties can be accommodated in the indoor dining area.
