Launched last month within the recently refurbished luxury hotel The Langham, Hong Kong, the Artesian bar introduces to Hong Kong the impressive cocktail credentials of its sibling Artesian bar at The Langham, London. Frequently listed among the world’s best bars, Artesian in London is renowned for its stellar cocktails, proficient and engaging bar service, and glamorous interior. Located at the epicentre of the vibrant TsimShaTsui shopping and tourism district, the Artesian bar, nestled within the superbly transformed The Langham, Hong Kong, brings a new level of refined hotel bar experience to the local Hong Kong bar scene. Drawing on its distinguished London pedigree, the Artesian in Hong Kong entices with a progressive cocktail program that deftly combines signature drinks from the London bar with locally designed cocktails influenced with flavours and ingredients that evoke a Chinese heritage.
Occupying an intimate space adjacent to the main lobby, the Artesian decor exemplifies the elegant European design aesthetic that was integral in the recent refurbishment of the hotel. Combining Art Deco influences with contemporary elegance, the Artesian features a sleek semi-circular bar set on a slightly raised level, with the adjoining Palm Court lounge space distinguished by its handsome fireplace and grand piano. With its white marble flooring, leather sofas, and banquette settings flanking either side of the bar, Artesian exudes a stylish yet comfortable sophistication.
The Artesian bar team is headed up by accomplished local bar manager Rajendra (Rush) Limbu – his solid resume includes stints behind the bar at celebrated high-end Hong Kong establishments including Otto e Mezzo and Il Milione. The cocktail menu is very much on point with its focus on bourbon and gin based drinks, together with a well-curated selection of signature cocktails from the London Artesian, supplemented with signature re-interpreted classics. A fine spirits collection is headlined with the globally representative selection of over 50 bourbons and 34 gins sourced from the foremost distillers. A specialty of Artesian are the signature Gin & Tonic serves made “Spanish-style” from the finest botanical gins – paired with artisanal tonic waters – and served in large coupe glassware replete with hand-carved ice and flavoursome garnishes.
Artesian at The Langham, Hong Kong is open daily between 11 am and 1 am, with late closing at 2 am on Thursday to Saturday nights.
