Devender Sehgal of Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA wins Hong Kong & Macau Final of Bacardi Legacy Global Cocktail Competition

Earlier this month, the Hong Kong and Macau finals of the 2015 Bacardi Legacy Global Cocktail Competition were concluded with the announcement of Devender Sehgal of Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA as the 2015 winner. The Bacardi Legacy Global Cocktail Competition challenges bartenders worldwide to create a future classic cocktail that should be well-balanced, refreshing, and with timeless appeal, qualifying to join existing Bacardi classics such as the Daiquiri, Pina Colada, and Mojito. The competition in Hong Kong and Macau launched in late 2014 with local bartenders submitting their recipes for a classic legacy cocktail, with only the top 8 ultimately selected to move into the final round of competition. The eight finalists were then tasked to market their cocktail creations for three months at both their own bars, and at guest bartending stints, to demonstrate the appeal and commercial viability of the cocktail.
Prior to the gala VIP presentation dinner, a judging panel of industry experts, at a final round of competition held at the Bacardi Hong Kong offices, had scored each finalist on criteria including balance of flavour, aroma, appearance, inspiration and presentation. Devender Sehgal will now represent Hong Kong & Macau in the Global Final to be held in Sydney on May 3rd.. Runners up were announced as Bruno Santos from the Sky 21 Bar & Restaurant in Macau; and Kervin Unido from Flint Bar & Grill in Hong Kong.
