Retro-themed neighbourhood cafe – popular hangout for all-day coffee, drinks & food – plus rooftop bar
June 9th, 2016
Noteworthy amongst the thriving hip cafe scene in Hanoi, BarBetta enjoys consistent popularity with its appealing combination of retro-chic decor, cheap drinks and food, and a rustic rooftop bar. Serving coffee, drinks and well-executed simple cafe cuisine, BarBetta transforms after dark into a bustling bar and party spot. Located on a leafy street in Hanoi’s fashionable Da Binh embassy and residential district, BarBetta occupies the upper two levels of a somewhat ramshackle French colonial-era villa. Open daily from 8am, friendly service and a laid-back ambience ensures that BarBetta is an inviting urban haven for coffee and conversations, all-day eats, and good-value evening drinks.
Decor The main cafe level features a series of interconnected rooms furnished with mismatched vintage 70’s furniture and an eclectic assemblage of vinyl records and movie-themed memorabilia. Full-height shuttered windows open out onto the streetscape, while guests can relax in comfortable armchairs and sofa settings. An internal staircase leads to the open-air rooftop, where the rustic decor matches the laid-back vibe.
Beverages & Food A compact but well-stocked bar dispenses all kinds of drinks at low prices – including draft and bottled beers, European wines, cocktails and some potent shots. Happy Hour promotions on beers and cocktails are a hit – while the coffee and teas are top-notch. The kitchen serves a menu of mostly European-style cafe dishes – including hearty salads, sandwiches, and burgers, as well as a good selection of bar snacks.
BarBetta opens daily from 8am – with the rooftop bar open until late.
