Conveniently accessible in the heart of Singapore’s upscale Orchard Road shopping and lifestyle district, Caveau Bar offers an enticing destination for relaxing all-day coffee and casual eats, while transforming in the evenings into a chic bar specialising in attractively priced boutique French wines. Established since 2012 by the highly rated Les Amis restaurant and wine group, Caveau Bar draws on the experienced sommeliers and considerable wine resources of the French-centric group to offer an exceptional selection of over 200 labels. Coupled with the premium Enomatic wine dispensing system, guests at Caveau can sample by the glass a selection of 16 wine labels – updated monthly. Freshly roasted artisan coffee can be complemented with freshly baked fruit pastries and carolines from the adjoining sibling establishment – Tarte, while the kitchen at Caveau serves a compact bar menu of snacks and bistro dishes.
Design Occupying a compact, street-level space, Caveau, through its full-height glass facade overlooks a quiet backstreet behind the bustling Orchard Road. A pared-back yet comfortable decor features rustic elements such as wooden floors and panelled walls, and grey brick bar that are complemented by simple utilitarian furnishings. Seating options include round timber tables in the front section, high-tables extending through the main space opposite the bar, while at the rear of the room, a discrete space offers semi-privacy for small groups.
Wines The Caveau wine list is centred around an expertly curated selection of boutique wine labels sourced from small French producers. Wallet-friendly bottle prices start from under SGD50 – with a good number of labels priced below SGD100. Tasting notes and the 16-botttle Enomatic dispenser that pours wine by the glass in either 25ml, 75ml or 250ml servings help make the wine choices accessible to both connoisseurs and wine novices, while a Tasting Flight offers 4 x half glasses of selected wines at only SGD50++. In addition to the wines, the bar also serves a concise list of Scottish and Japanese single malts, and several craft beers.
