For decades a stalwart of Ho Chi Minh City’s rooftop bar scene, Saigon Saigon Bar at the Caravelle Saigon continues as one of the best vantage points for panoramic city views and relaxed drinks. Located atop one of the city’s iconic luxury hotels and overlooking the historic heart of District 1, the rooftop bar at the Caravelle Saigon has entertained guests and locals since it opened back in 1959. The rooftop bar earned iconic status during the 1960’s and 70’s as the go-to gathering place for international war correspondents and diplomats. Extensively renovated in the late 1990’s the rooftop bar on the 10th floor of the original hotel was relaunched as Saigon Saigon Bar – featuring an outdoor terrace that wraps around a spacious bar and lounge – and offering a stylish yet casual atmosphere for daytime and evening drinks – transforming into a vibrant nightspot with live music from the resident band nightly until late.
Design Occupying an expansive corner space on the Caravelle Saigon rooftop, Saigon Saigon Bar offers both open-air terrace settings in addition to a spacious indoor bar and lounge area. The pared-back contemporary decor coherently marries with the colonial-chic aesthetic of the upscale yet unpretentious rooftop space – with utilitarian teak timber furniture and black marble topped tables well-spaced across the terrace and interior. Prominent across one end of the interior the sleek bar captures attention, while teak- shuttered full height windows open up the interior to the tropical breezes and cityscape views.
Beverages & Cuisine During the day the bar serves a lunch menu of international comfort dishes – including salads, sandwiches, tapas plates and the signature Saigon Saigon beef burger and cheese burger. Refreshments at the bar include a solid list of Luxury Cocktails – showcasing both well-executed classics and modern creations. Among standout cocktails to try are the Miss Saigon – with Grey Goose, Bacardi Rum, Cointreau, orange and cranberry juices; and the Mango Mojito made with Bacardi Rum, mango juice, Monin mango syrup, lime juice.
Open daily from 11am until late, the daily Happy Hours at Saigon Saigon Bar amplify the rooftop experience – making it an attractive destination to watch the tropical sunsets while enjoying reasonably priced drinks and stellar city views.
