Elevated Mexican street foods complemented with an outstanding selection of agave spirits & cocktails

Recently the team behind beloved Mexican taqueria Lucha Loco at Duxton Hill, and Super Loco eatery at Robertson Quay, have expanded their Mexican culinary footprint into the heart of the Singapore CBD with the September opening of Super Loco Customs House. Occupying a prime Marina Bay waterfront space within the heritage-listed Customs House, the new Super Loco combines a meticulously refurbished interior kitchen, dining room and bar with expansive waterfront deck spaces. Inspired by the team’s frequent explorations of Mexico’s culinary and agave spirit heritage, they have refined the already popular Super Loco concept with an elevated menu and bar program befitting the CBD location. With the culinary team serving contemporary renditions of authentic Mexican flavours – uplifted with premium ingredients and modern presentation – the bar also entices with its impressive assemblage of over 80 artisanal bottlings of Tequila, Mezcal and Raicilla – complemented with a list of new signature cocktails.
Design Taking advantage of its fabulous waterfront setting, the main dining room, and bar are encased within full height glass, while the outdoor deck spaces feature casual settings of high tables with large parasols. Architectural elements within the stripped-back interior reference the heritage origins of the Customs House, while handmade tiles, raw concrete surfaces, and the terrazzo-faced bar evoke an understated Mexican ethos – melding pleasingly to create a contemporary, casual cool dining aesthetic.
Cuisine The comprehensive menu is built around familiar Mexican fare like Tostadas, Quesadillas, Tacos, and Ensaladas. Reimagined dishes embody the essence of authentic Mexican contemporary cooking while enhanced with quality ingredients prepared in creative ways. Standout dishes that showcase the modern cuisine include the Langosta Tostada with lobster, avocado, celery hearts and spring onions; and the Tiayuda – a Mexican flatbread with 3-month air-dried wagyu, black bean hummus, queso Oaxaca, and peppery rocket. A lunch menu offers selections of Tortas – a quintessential Mexican street food typified by the El Cubano – a hot sandwich of slow-roasted pork, smoked bacon, jalapeno mustard, Swiss cheese, lettuce, and pickles.
Cocktails Super Loco’s beverage program focuses on artisanal Mexican agave spirits, and mirrors the cuisine with its focus on high-quality ingredients. More than 80 expertly curated mezcals, tequilas and raicillas are available by the glass – highlighted by the Fuentesca 9, 12 and 18-year aged tequilas – while Cimarron Blanco as the house pour tequila exemplifies the bar cred. Signature craft cocktails created to showcase the bold and zesty flavours of agave spirits are elevated with fresh tropical fruits, house-made agave infusions – and eschewing sugar syrups – organic agave nectars as sweeteners. Headlining the cocktail list are ten signature margaritas – standout mezcal-based creations include the Prickly Pear Mezcalita made with Mina Real mezcal; and the Acai Spearmint Mezcalita based on La Venenosa Raicilla.
Super Loco Customs House opens weekdays for lunch and dinner, and Saturdays for dinner only. Attracting a corporate crowd with its weekday express lunch menu and atmospheric waterfront location ideal for after-work drinks, the evenings transition into a vibrant dining and bar destination as the full height glass doors open the interior to the outdoor promenade, and upbeat tunes enliven the vibe. Table bookings are recommended in the evenings, and check the Facebook Page for upcoming promotions and events.
