Authentic Neopolitan-style pizza at chic multi-level venue opposite the historic Saigon Opera House
November 21st, 2016
Opened in March 2016 within Saigon’s historic civic district, NAMO Artisanal Pizzeria serves authentic renditions of the classic thin-crust-style pizzas that originated in the southern Italy city of Naples. Cooked by native Neapolitan pizza masters in the hallmark wood-fired oven – custom made by famed Italian oven manufacturer Stefano Ferrara – the authenticity of NAMO pizzas are also grounded in using only the finest quintessential pizza and Italian ingredients including specially milled flour, artisanal mozzarella producers, and locally-grown tomatoes. Occupying a four-level building overlooking the Opera House, NAMO offers a stylish, upscale destination in Saigon for first-rate pizzas and pasta, complemented with fine Italian wines. Launched by progressive local restaurant group L Concepts, NAMO Artisanal Pizzeria has recently being joined by sibling restaurant NAMO Tuscan Grill that introduces the best of Italian grill cuisine to Saigon.
Design Extensively refurbished by a team of noted international architects, the interior of the 4-level space has been transformed with a chic retro-modern decor that exudes an understated sophistication. At the ground level the open kitchen showcases the impressive wood-fired oven with casual counter seating, while the mezzanine and first floor spaces seat around 28 and 36 diners respectively. At the top floor the bar and casual dining and lounge space offers sweeping views across Lam Son Square and the Opera House.
Cuisine & Drinks The concise menu features NAMO signature pizzas – including the La Famiglia – a meter-long pizza for sharing – with assorted topping choices including Margherita, Pesto Burrata, and Diavola. Classic Neapolitan pizzas are simple, well-executed and prepared with traditional ingredients – exemplified by the Margherita with premium quality mozzarella, tomato sauce, and basil. In addition to the headline pizza, NAMO also serves an appetising menu of popular pizzeria dishes including pasta, salads, grill and dishes. Drinks menu highlights include classic Italian cocktails such as Negroni, Aperol Spritz and Bellini – plus apertivo like Martini vermouths, Campari, and Ricard. A well-curated wine list includes a wide selection of premium Italian wines sourced from both familiar labels and artisanal small producers.
NAMO opens daily from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm. Special deals include the daily Happy Hour between 5pm and 7pm. The rooftop bar with 40 seats can also be booked for intimate private events and dinners.
