Signature cocktail by Grace Tsai of Taiwan announced as regional Bacardi Legacy winner
February 28th, 2017
Annually the Bacardi Legacy Cocktail Competition challenges bartenders worldwide to create a future classic cocktail that should be well-balanced, refreshing, and with timeless appeal, qualifying to join existing Bacardi classics such as the Daiquiri, Pina Colada, and Mojito. Recently, after a series of eliminations and country finals, four regional finalists representing Hong Kong and Macau joined seven Taiwan country finalists in Taipei. Ahead of the regional final, the bartenders were tasked with promoting and marketing their signature competition cocktail creations at their home bars, guest bartending stints, and on social media in order to demonstrate the appeal and commercial viability of the cocktail. The competition for bartenders representing Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau concluded with a final judging session held at the Shangri-La hotel in Taipei to select the regional winner.
At the conclusion of a closely contested competition, Grace Tsai from Taipei emerged as the winner, with Timothy Ching from Bibo in Hong Kong the runner-up, and Amanda Wan of The Envoy in Hong Kong taking third place. A judging panel of industry experts scored the cocktails of each finalist on balance of flavour, aroma, appearance, inspiration and presentation. Grace Tsai will now represent Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau in the Global Final to be held in Berlin in May 2017.
