La Maison Cointreau competition in Hong Kong announces finalists for 2017
September 5th, 2017
A whopping 42 contestants from 28 bars enrolled into the first La Maison Cointreau competition in Hong Kong. Probably the highest number of entries in any cocktail competition hosted in Hong Kong so far. Originally 12 finalists were planned but due to the high number of entries, the panel decided to increase the number to top 15.
The judging panel of Jay Khan (Rémy Cointreau Brand Ambassador Hong Kong & Macau), Mark Hammons of Tasting Kitchen (TK) and Sandeep Hathiramani of Beverage & Co. tasted the contestants’ take on the classic White Lady Cocktail made with Cointreau, or Cointreau Blood Orange throughout one long week to decide who would make the top 15 cutoff.
The competition was fierce and it took a long time to finalise the top 15 according to Jay Khan. Contestants were judged on three major aspects – the taste of the drink, the aesthetic, and the bartenders’ presentation.
The top 15 bartenders listed below will progress to the finals which will be held on Sept 11th at Happy Paradise. The final task will be based on the Rémy Martin ONE LIFE / LIVE THEM campaign. The bartenders will be challenged to create a served inspired by their slashie / talents.
