Celebrated MO Bar concept recently launched at Mandarin Oriental Singapore
November 25th, 2018
Among cocktail aficionados and discerning travellers, MO Bars at the luxurious Mandarin Oriental hotels in several Asian cities exemplify chic sophistication and masterful mixology. The latest addition to the MO Bar collection in Asia – at Singapore’s Mandarin Oriental – celebrated with a grand opening event in November 2018. Taking inspiration from Singapore’s heritage as a multi-cultural entrepot at the crossroads of Asia’s trade routes, MO Bar offers an engaging cocktail program that showcases the rich culinary influences of the region. Located in a comfortably proportioned 4th-floor space that enjoys spectacular views through floor-to-ceiling windows over the CBD skyline and Marina Bay precinct, the new MO Bar serves an all-day menu that transitions from the ever-popular Afternoon Tea through to evening cocktails at the bar.
Inspired by the Pacific Ocean, the new interior design by Blueplate Studios (Wilson Associates) incorporates travel artefacts, hand-carved wooden sculptures, etched metal panels and hand-woven tapestries to create a sophisticated decor. The centrepiece bar – fronted by a long grey granite bar counter offers guests a front row seat from which to view the skilled mixology team in action. While the lounge space includes comfortable low-table settings and plush armchairs.
Creating the cocktails concept, Bar Manager Michele Mariotti collaborated with local bar developers, Proof & Company to create an innovative drinks list – designed as an exploration of regional culinary and cultural influences – that blends the finest ingredients with progressive techniques, providing a well-curated selection that ranges from refreshing to bold spirit-forward creations. Highlights from the cocktail list include ‘Coconut Beaches of Fiji’ with pisco, lychee cordial and carbonated coconut cream, and ‘Mother of Dragons’ with strawberry aloe vera, red dragon fruit juice and cachaça. The list also includes mocktails, beers and wines, and the exclusive in-house MO BAR Pilsner, developed in collaboration with local craft brewery, Archipelago.
A menu of eclectic light bites make the ideal accompaniments to the cocktails, while the Mandarin Oriental’s signature afternoon tea is served daily, featuring artisan pastries and a myriad of accompanying delights.
MO Bar opens daily from 11 am, with Afternoon Tea served between 3 pm to 5 pm, and late closing on Friday and Saturday nights.
