Festive season menu highlights Spanish cuisine and regional wine pairings
December 17th, 2018
Along the fringes of the busy Stevens Road is Winestone, a restaurant and wine boutique that serves eclectic renditions of modern European cuisine before it transforms into a late-night bar. Set within the urban compound that encompasses interconnected Mercure and Novotel branded hotels the contemporary design features warm tones pervading the interior while hanging pendant lights are backdropped against lofty windows. Expansive displays of wines highlight a central counter surrounded with vibrant-coloured bar stools. The key here is “simple, attractive, authentic and affordable.” Winestone is derived from two of the restaurant’s concepts: a wide selection of wine (also available for retail), and its signature meals, attractively served on slabs of stone.
For the early and the hungry, there’s the Winestone Express Platter – topped with a selection of cheeses, cold cuts and in-house focaccia bread – served along with a house pour of either red or white wine. Serious eaters will enjoy a three-course lunch set, with options ranging from vegetarian and meat-centric – and everything in between. Enjoy a flavourful journey through Mediterranean cuisine with Falafel as a great starter, tossed with hummus, minted yoghurt, tomatoes and olives. Ricotta veal and meatballs are served with soft polenta and Pomodoro sauce, while Pepperonata satiates the health-conscious with its serving of goat cheese, truffle honey and pistachio. Savour the flavours of the ocean with chef-recommended Mackerel Tartar, paired with caviar and croutons, or the Cataplana – a hefty serving of squids, mussels, clams, capsicums, topped with tomatoes and coriander. Until February 2019, Winestone serves a gourmet Spanish Wine Pairing, an off-the-menu four-course dinner furnished with each dish paired with a curated glass of wine from Spain. Begin with a bite of Jamon Iberico before progressing to a plate of Gambas. followed by a selection of two entrée options. And finally, indulge with a familiar Catalan dessert – churros – accompanied by a sparkling Zeta Cava Brut.
Winestone is located at 28 Stevens Road, Singapore – and opens from Mondays to Saturdays during lunch and evening hours.
