The Old Man in Hong Kong takes the No.1 ranking at Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2019 announcement

The 2019 listings of Asia’s 50 Best Bars were announced at the awards event held on May 9th at the Capitol Theatre in Singapore. The fourth edition of the annual ranking featured 12 new entries, while Hong Kong’s The Old Man claimed the No.1 rank as The Best Bar in Asia 2019, and also named as The Best Bar in China, both awards sponsored by Perrier.
The Top 10 Bars for 2019 were:
#1 The Old Man – Hong Kong
#2 Manhattan Bar – Regent Hotel, Singapore
#3 Indulge Experimental Bistro – Taipei, Taiwan
#4 Native – Singapore
#5 Atlas Grand Lobby & Bar – Singapore
#6 Bar High Five – Tokyo, Japan
#7 Speak Low – Shanghai, China
#8 The Bamboo Bar – Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, Thailand
#9 Jigger & Pony – Singapore
#10 Quinary – Hong Kong

Other highlights from the 2019 list – which features nine countries and 12 new entries
• China featured the most bars on the list with 12 bars – with Singapore claiming 11, and followed by Thailand
with 7
• Jigger & Pony – Singapore climbed 33 spots from 2018 to No.9 and picked up the
Highest Climber Award, sponsored by Mr Black
• Coa – Hong Kong, won the Highest New Entry Award, sponsored by Seedlip,
debuting at No.12
• Manhattan – Singapore, was named the Legend of the List, sponsored by Michter’s
• Japanese cocktail master Shingo Gokan was voted by his peers as the Altos
Bartenders’ Bartender 2019
• Bar Trigona in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, took the Ketel One Sustainable Bar
Award
• Pussyfoot Saloon – Seoul, Korea, while not included in the Top 50 – was named as the Campari One To Watch Award 2019
