New Bali restaurant melds a retro-Californian sensibility with gourmet flatbread pizzas
July 6th, 2019
A new addition to the vibrant dining scene in Bali’s fashionable Seminyak district, Flat Stanley consummately melds a retro Californian/West Coast sensibility with contemporary pizza cuisine – specializing in sourdough flatbread pizzas – topped with fresh local Balinese produce. In addition to the signature pizzas, Flat Stanley offers diners an enticing menu of sharing boards, small plates, vegetables and salad, and grilled seafood and meats.
Within the spacious street front space, warm timbers are extensively deployed to infuse a laid-back comfortable vibe – while retro curios and artifacts, showcased in open-partitions, reference the mid-century California concept. Well-spaced dining tables across both the indoor and outdoor spaces offer comfortable dining options to suit the mood of guests.
Headlining the menu are the flatbread pizza creations of chef Matt White (previously behind Extra Virgin Pizza and Alt. Pizza in Singapore). The 48-hour double fermentation sourdough crusts are topped with classic and fresh local produce and include standout signatures like the Peppered Salami; Truffle; and Rocket. Other highlights from the menu include grilled locally caught Red Snapper, and the Hanger Steak & Fries – while craft beers, international wines, house-bottled cocktails, and local coffee are ideal accompaniments.
Brought to life by a collaboration between chef Matt White and the same group behind the adjoining The Pontiac Stardust bar, and internationally, popular dining venues in Hong Kong and Singapore such as Neon Pigeon, Amalfitana, Fat Prince and Summerlong – Flat Stanley is the latest expression of their combined passion for delivering stylish contemporary dining and hospitality experiences to a discerning and cosmopolitan clientele.
Flat Stanley opens daily from 12:00 pm – with last food orders at 10:30 pm. Takeaway service is available.
