Bardo – French-inspired bistro and bar – Bangkok

Undeterred by the unique challenges of opening a new restaurant mid-pandemic, French-inspired Bardo Social Bistro and Bar launched in September 2020 in the heart of Bangkok’s Sathorn district. Occupying a compact street-level space within the popular Soi 10 /12 neighborhood, Bardo serves a modern version of traditional French bistro food with a focus on the flavors of the Mediterranean. Conceived as a relaxed hangout destination for friends to enjoy lunches and dinners of well-executed comfort food – complemented by a bar serving a drinks list comprising classic cocktails plus a concise selection of French wines and champagnes.

While the geometric pattern of the black and white chequerboard floor evokes the tradition of French bistros –  a mustard yellow decor palette showcases modern pop-urban artworks by the renowned French artist Kostar. Guests can choose between outdoor terrace seating or the indoor table and banquet settings –  and the solid timber topped bar counter offers a casual setting for drinks and snacks.

The culinary team at Bardo have created a concise yet varied menu of Mediterranean-inspired bistro dishes. Designed for sharing with friends and family, the modern take on classic French cuisine balances the flavors from various countries of the Mediterranean region – enhanced with fresh local ingredients. The menu offers selections of sharing boards and bites, appetizers, mains, and desserts – with daily specials and weekend brunch menus.

With an emphasis on sociable hospitality, Bardo has a regular series of nightly promotions – such as “Social Fridays” with live DJs, “Oysters & Champagne Thursdays”; and the weekend boozy “Bardo Brunch“.
