Renowned Spanish restaurant and bar relocates after 12 years on Ship Street in Wan Chai

Serving up the flavors of Spain in a vibrant and dynamic setting 22 Ships proudly announces its relocation to a new location inside PMQ Central on Staunton Street, SoHo. Opened since 2012, Hong Kong’s renowned Spanish restaurant and bar which gained prominence at its previous home on Ship Street in Wan Chai, promises an unforgettable experience of rustic yet refined Spanish cuisine by Chef / Founder Antonio Oviedo, in partnership with JIA Group.

Yenn Wong, founder of JIA Group, shares her vision for the new 22 Ships in PMQ, “At 22 Ships, we aim to recreate the vibrant and social dining atmosphere reminiscent of Spanish bodegas. The inviting new and much expanded location that are perfect for big groups and parties with reservations
accepted, fosters a space where guests can unwind, enjoy drinks, and socialize over multi Spanish regional dishes capturing the authentic and relaxed essence of Spain’s culinary culture right here in the heart of Hong Kong.”

Designed by JIA Group, the new space at 22 Ships draws inspiration from Spanish bodegas and traditional eateries, embodying warm tones and Mediterranean forms. Featuring three dining areas, a private room and an outdoor terrace with a total capacity of 60 guests that is much expanded from the previous 25 guests, the rustic yet retro design of the new PMQ Central location exudes a cool and relaxed ambiance, inviting guests to indulge in a laid-back setting for social drinks and small bites.

Authentic Spanish flavours and premium ingredients  are presented in a simple yet bold manner on the new 22 Ships menu (with a total of 40 dishes) including a range of multi-regional dishes with up to 12 new dishes on the expanded menu. From the all-new, savory dish of Marmitako (HK$178) featuring Spanish mackerel and red pepper sofrito, to the exquisite Txuleta (HK$248) of Iberico pork ribs with Romesco sauce and leeks, each dish is a testament to the artistry of Spanish cuisine.

All ingredients used at 22 Ships are of the highest possible quality and sourced directly from small-scale producers in Spain where possible. Examples of such ingredients includes the rare Arbequina Olive Oil from Castillo de Canena in Andalusia, whose olive-producing history dates back to 1780.  Other premium Spanish ingredients include the deep-sea Carabinero, renowned for their jumbo size and striking colour; Monte Enebro, a cheese handmade in Valle del Tiétar, Ávila, Spain, by legendary cheese maker Rafael Báez and his daughters Paloma and María Jesús; and an exclusive range of Iberico Ham selection from various Spanish regions such as Jamon Pedro Domenec in Jabugo or Joselito cold cuts from Guijuelo.

The expanded beverage program at 22 Ships features a strong regional selection personally curated by Chef Antonio and team with a 100% focus on Spanish wines and a vast variety of Spanish grapes. Wine prices range from HK$418 per bottle up to HK$3998 per bottle.

 A vibrant medley of Spanish social drinks, including sangrias, artisanal beers, and vermouth-based cocktails such as the Marianito (HK$98), a refreshing blend of Campari and orange soda; and the invigorating Rebujito (HK$88), crafted with apple and mint soda. In-house liquors like Patxaran and Canary Honey Rum are sure to delight, enhancing signature cocktails like the Ron Miel Sour (HK$98), expertly made with lemon and egg white.

Currently open from Tuesday to Sunday for dinner only, the new 22 Ships will continue its “no service charge” policy, and introduce a change by accepting reservations via SevenRooms. Weekend Brunches will commence in mid-October – Saturdays and Sundays between 12 pm and 3 pm
