First time Asia’s 50 Best Bars live awards ceremony has been hosted in Macau

The  tenth edition of Asia’s 50 Best Bars, sponsored by Perrier, is set to commence with a live awards ceremony in Macau on 15 July 2025. In partnership with destination partners Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace, this year’s awards and accompanying event program will take place in the city for the very first time.

The annual compilation of Asia’s 50 Best Bars serves as the leading and most esteemed evaluation of cocktail culture across the continent. This prestigious list is derived from the votes of the Asia’s 50 Best Bars Academy: a notable and anonymous gender-balanced group of more than 300 industry professionals, including bartenders, bar owners, beverage writers, and cocktail connoisseurs from the region. Each member of the Academy has the opportunity to nominate up to seven venues, ensuring a rich tapestry of perspectives on what constitutes the “best bar experience”. The final list is generated through a simple computation of votes, with results independently verified by Deloitte.

This year’s event programme will include the highly anticipated Bartenders’ Feast where Macau will showcase its finest food and drinks and Meet the Bartenders, an exclusive media roundtable session. This will be followed by the main ceremony, complete with red-carpet arrivals, interviews, a drinks reception and the awards presentation itself. Last year, Bar Leone, an Italian aperitivo bar in Hong Kong, achieved the remarkable distinction of being named No.1 and The Best Bar in Asia, within one year of opening its doors.

Special Awards and the 51-100 list

At this year’s live awards ceremony, which culminates in the announcement of The Best Bar in Asia, sponsored by Perrier, other esteemed accolades will also recognise the exceptional talent and bars within Asia and are selected through a meticulous process. The live countdown will also be preceded by a series of special awards announcements in the month leading up to the ceremony.

These include:

  • Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award, granted to the bar that has provided exceptional service to its patrons in the past 18 months, as determined by votes from all members of Asia’s 50 Best Bars Academy.
  • Altos Bartenders’ Bartender, which recognises a peer, chosen by the bartenders from the establishments featured on the 2025 list, who has significantly advanced the art of bartending in the last 18 months.
  • The extended 51-100 list of establishments, unveiled prior to the main ceremony, is generated from the overall voting process for Asia’s 50 Best Bars. This list emphasises the commitment of 50 Best to highlight the rich diversity of talent within Asia’s vibrant bar culture, providing bar enthusiasts with a broader selection of venues to explore.
