The Star Ferry Terminal on the waterfront of Hong Kong Island is the operational hub for the iconic cross-harbour ferry service. A trip on one of the historic ferries across Victoria Harbour to the Kowloon side is usually at or near the top of the “must do ” list for first time visitors to Hong Kong, and is also still popular with local commuters as a relaxing alternative to the frequently packed MTR trains. Occupying both an indoor space and large outdoor terrace on the upper level of the terminal building, Pier 7 Cafe & Bar enjoys panoramic views of the Central Hong Kong skyline, and the island waterfront. The bright, modern interior and spacious outdoor timber deck area provide an ideal place for a casual lunch or afternoon drink, and in the evenings a fabulous dress circle view of the spectacular lighting effects of the nearby city office towers. Pier 7 Cafe & Bar is open all day, and serves lunch daily, and with bar snacks available from 6pm to 10pm. Owned and operated by the highly regarded Cafe Deco Group, Pier 7 cafe & Bar was opened in late 2007, and has since enjoyed considerable popularity, both with tourists and the many local patrons.

The entrance to Pier 7 Cafe & Bar is at the top of the external flight of stairs at the beginning of the terminal building, and can also be access directly by an elevator from the ground level. Entering the cafe, the interior presents with a feeling of spaciousness and brightness thanks to high ceilings and the large semi-circular shaped glassed section of the rear wall. The internal space has a clean, uncluttered modern design. Tables for dining are located at one side of the bar, and high tables, and a long counter with stools, face the bar. The large outdoor terrace has dark timber decking and is separated into sections by timber paneled planter boxes. Parasols are on hand to provide protection from either the summer sunshine, or any rain showers. The views afforded by this deck area are truly impressive- even though the harbour itself is not immediately viewable. The office towers of Central and Wanchai are spectacular sights- either in daylight- and particularly at sunset and into the night.

The food and drinks served at Pier 7 Cafe & Bar are attractively priced for such a prime location and include a good selection of wines, beers, premium spirits, and creative cocktails, as well as non-alcoholic drinks , coffees etc. The daily Lunch Carvery Specials are probably the most popular of the food offerings- with a salad bar, carvery station and coffee or tea priced from HK$98 per head (see link below for full details on the daily carvery specials). The extensive range of bar snacks for sharing include Crispy Chicken Wings; Artisan Cheese Platter; Classic Burger & Fries; Pizzas; and daily fresh Oysters.
The cocktails are categorized as Pier 7 Creations; Pier 7 Martinis and Champagne Cocktails. Highlights include the Pier 7 Cooler– with Cointreau, pineapple juice, cranberry juice, white wine and soda water; the Grand Manhattan Martini– with Grand Marnier, Martini Rosso, Jim Beam and orange juice; and the Noble House– Champagne, sake, honey and fresh ginger.
