Sugar is sleek and modern combination of lounge / bar / deck located on the 32nd floor rooftop of the stylish EAST, Hong Kong, a modern lifestyle business hotel owned and operated by Swire Hotels. First opened in 2010, Sugar is a popular vantage spot for enjoying sunset and evening drinks against the backdrop of the breathtaking views of Hong Kong’s dramatic sky line and beautiful harbour. Situated in the booming new Island East business centre in the Tai Koo district of Hong Kong Island, about 15 minutes from Central, EAST and Sugar provide a refreshingly different perspective from the typical views seen at the majority of Hong Kong’s rooftop bars, mostly clustered around Central and Tsim Sha Tsui.
The interior design of Sugar features a modern, contemporary style, with clean and simple lines and minimal detailing. The indoor and outdoor spaces are designed to be relaxed and informal, creating a naturally comfortable ambiance. Seating both in the indoor Lounge, and outdoor Deck, mostly comprises groupings of sofas, with clusters of high round tables and chairs also on the Deck. During the afternoons Sugar is bright and breezy- bathed in sunlight, and cooled by the harbour seabreezes. In the evenings, the Lounge is suffused with a more lustrous chic. Color changing LED lighted floor panels, ceiling lighting effects and the spectacular bar set the scene, and resident DJs add their tunes to the mix. Several VIP semi-private spaces at either end of the Deck can be booked for functions or events, or just for small private parties.

The menu at Sugar is based around the tapas concept of small dishes that pair perfectly with the cocktails and other beverages. The menu features an assemblage of various groupings of ” Bites” – ranging from “Small Bites” such as Chunky Cajun Fries served with melting mozzarella, tomato-coriander salsa; “Sharing Bites” like Mixed Japanese Skewers- yakitori chicken, pork, kobe beef; “Pizza Bites”- Pizza di Parma- shaved Parma, Parmesan, arugula; and “Fish Bites”- Thai Style Fish Cakes- cucumber and peanut dipping sauce. Other “Bites” include “Healthy Bites” and “Sweet Bites.
The beverages menu is highlighted by the cocktail selections- categorised as “Sparkling”; “Bar”; “House Favourites”; and “Mocktails”. Some of the stand out cocktails include Eastern Summer Punch- Stolichnaya Vodka, Prosecco, lemon, passionfruit, peach, mint, pineapple; Jamma-drama by Winson Ng- Belvedere Raspberry Vodka, Crème de Mure, lemon, blackcurrant jam, mint, honey, soda; and Apple Mentha- Jose Cuervo Tradicional Tequila, lemon, agave syrup, apple, mint, ginger beer. A concise wine selection that offers wines, and champagne by the glass or bottle; and a solid selection of premium spirits, single malts, draft and bottled beers- and soft drinks – completes the beverage choices available.
