Colonial-era themed bar at luxury riverside resort in Bangkok
September 4th, 2012
The Elephant Bar, located within the Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort & Spa on the banks of Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River, exudes the warm and cosy ambiance of colonial era gentleman’s club. Artfully blending Asian and colonial era design influences into a coherent style, the Elephant Bar offers guests a relaxed environment for partaking evening pre-dinner drinks, watching sports, or just enjoying an after-dinner drink and conversation with friends. The connection with elephants, which are revered in Thai culture, is expressed with numerous wood carvings of various sizes throughout the bar, and the sponsorship by the Anantara group of the annual King’s Cup Elephant Polo tournament held at the Anantara Hua Hin beachside resort. Images of elephant polo are displayed throughout the bar, together with examples of players tack and equipment.
The Elephant Bar is open daily from 5 pm- serving a variety of beverages including their signature cocktails, draft and bottled beers, and selections of wines. With a choice of 10 bars and restaurants within the sprawling riverside compound of the Anantara Resort- guests have a multitude of dining options to compliment the charms of the Elephant Bar.
The Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort & Spa is the flagship property of the locally owned and managed hospitality group. Expanding outside its Thai home market in recent years, the Anantara Resorts can now be found in exotic locales such as the Maldives, Bali, the Middle East, and Vietnam. The Bangkok property is located on an expansive river-front tropical garden setting of over 11 acres, and whilst maintaining a degree of separation ( and tranquility) from the main commercial and shopping centre of Bangkok, the Resort has convenient access via the dedicated hotel shuttle boats that ply frequently between the hotel jetty and the Saphin Taksin BTS station.
