Designed in the traditional Lanna architectural style of northern Thailand, the Longtail Bar stands at the head of the boat jetty of the Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort & Spa, directly on the riverbank of Bangkok’s famed Chao Phraya River. The Longtail Bar is named after the ubiquitous “longtail” boats that ply the rivers and coastal waters of Thailand. The convenient location on the hotel’s busy jetty offers picturesque views across the riverscape- with the skyline of central Bangkok to the west, and the historic Memorial Bridge across the river to the east. The Longtail Bar is open all day from 9am until late at night- servicing visitors and guests accessing the shuttle boats services on the jetty, as well as the nightly dining cruises aboard restored teak timber rice barges. The bar offers drinks all day, and an a la carte menu for relaxed, casual open-air evening dining under the protection of the verdant tropical trees. Small teak tables line one side of the jetty offering uninterrupted views along the river.

The construction of the bar is in the form of the “sala Thai”, or pavilion, that are found throughout Thailand. Commonly used as a meeting or resting place- the sala is designed to offer protection from the hot tropical sun or monsoonal rains, and being open on all four sides, and with a high-pitched roof, allows the river breezes to flow through and keep the occupants cool.

The Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort & Spa is the flagship property of the locally owned and managed hospitality group. Expanding outside its Thai home market in recent years, the Anantara Resorts can now be found in exotic locales such as the Maldives, Bali, the Middle East, and Vietnam. The Bangkok property is located on an expansive river-front tropical garden setting of over 11 acres, and whilst maintaining a degree of separation ( and tranquility) from the main commercial and shopping centre of Bangkok, the Resort has convenient access via the dedicated hotel shuttle boats that ply frequently between the hotel jetty and the Saphin Taksin BTS station.

The Longtail Bar serves up a full selection of refreshing beverages- both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. In addition to beers, wines, spirits, the specialties of the bar are the exotic cocktail creations. Popular highlights from the cocktails list are shown below.

In addition to the beverage service, the Longtail Bar also offers an a la carte dining menu from 4pm in the afternoon- featuring BBQ dishes- fresh fish and seafood, and prime cuts of Australian beef, and supplemented with the local flavours of both Asian and Thai dishes.
