Without doubt one of Shanghai’s most glamorous nightspots, M Glamour Bar is a stunningly beautiful lounge and bar that evokes the indulgent and decadent lifestyle of historic Shanghai in the 1920’s. Open since 2006, M Glamour Bar is under the ownership of the renowned M Restaurant Group (founded in Hong kong in 1989- and in Shanghai since 1999)- with the flagship M on the Bund restaurant located on the floor above Glamour Bar. Patrons at Glamour Bar are immersed in a sophisticated setting of stylish, comfortable elegance, ideal for relaxed early evening cocktails, lingering over drinks and small bites, or late night drinks and socialising. Glamour Bar serves up an alluring offering of drinks from three separate bars- cocktails, fine champagnes, and wines by the glass- supplemented with delicious gourmet snacks and small bites- created by the culinary team at the sister restaurant upstairs- M on the Bund . 

The gorgeously realised decor of M Glamour Bar references an opulent Art Deco aesthetic frequently associated with 1920’s Shanghai high society, exuding an air of exclusivity and seductive elegance. Set within one of the magnificent restored buildings that face the Bund (No.5, a  neo-classical building built in 1921 for the Nissin Shipping Company of Japan), Glamour Bar occupies a spectacular space across the front half of the 6th Floor- directly below its sister restaurant- the world-acclaimed M on the Bund– on the top floor and rooftop. Utilising an open floor plan, the designers have created an engaging space with various sections that flow seamlessly together,  accommodating three differently themed bars- the Champagne Bar, the Wine Bar and the centre-piece Cocktail Bar. Clever placement of soft fabric screens, printed in traditional Chinese landscape and geometric patterns, between the original columns, with partial or complete lowering, subtly differentiate the various zones without diminishing an overall sense of the grand scale and opulence of the room.

Three specialist bars, each with its own character and drinks list, cater to a broad range of taste preferences. Or you can choose to sit in the main lounge spaces and order from any of the bars. At the Wine Bar, the impressively large Enomatic Machine offers a selection of 32 premium wines by the glass, plus an additional 36 wines are available by the bottle. And at the Champagne Bar– decorated in shades of seductive red- order champagne by the glass or bottle- accompanied perhaps with caviar. The much celebrated Cocktail Bar is the stunning centrepiece of the Glamour Bar interior- with the bartenders crafting an enticing variety of both classic, and contemporary signature cocktails.

Appetites are catered for with a menu of gourmet bites and sharing dishes created by culinary team at M on The Bund. Specialties include the selections of Baby Buns– varieties include Baoji Burger with shredded spicy fatty pork; Soft Shell Crab, corainder and tamarind sauce; and Best Baby Burger Ever. Selections of Bites include Foie Gras and Brioche, fig jam; Cuban Lamb Cigars; and Duck Rillette on Melba Toasts, cornichons. Other options include Meet and Cheese, Bowls for sharing, and dessert dishes- Love Bites- served in a glass.

M Glamour Bar are renowned for their broad ranging roster of monthly events that encompass entertainment and cultural interests- including live musicians, themed parties, resident and guest DJs on the weekends, and in conjunction with M on the Bund– the M Literary Salon, M Wine Talk and M Food Talk.

M Glamour Bar is open nightly from 5 pm. Table reservations are accepted- and particularly for weekend nights or special events- advisable. Glamour Bar also caters for small private cocktail parties, corporate events, product launches- with facilities that can comfortably accommodate between 40 and 400 guests.

The main lounge section at the front of the floor space overlooks The Bund through large full height windows. Arrangements of the eclectic assortment of colorful sofas, arm chairs and stools exude a relaxed yet sophisticated style.

Geometric motifs on the fabric screens that can be lowered to separate sections of the interior evoke traditional Chinese fretwork screens. Screens in other sections are printed with Chinese landscape designs.

The Wine Bar is highlighted by the spectacular tasting table that spans the length of the space.
