Glamorous new rooftop bar & lounge in Bangkok offers breathtaking views, sumptuous cocktails & modern tapas style cuisine

An impressive addition to Bangkok’s abundant- and immensely popular- collection of rooftop bars, Octave Rooftop Lounge & Bar launched in May 2013 atop the newly completed Bangkok Marriott Sukhumvit in the swank Thonglor district of Bangkok. The glistening new tower stands 49 stories high- making it comfortably the tallest building in the neighbourhood- and presenting fabulous, unobstructed panoramic views from its open-air rooftop deck. Consistent with its location at the heart of Bangkok’s most fashionable and vibrant lifestyle and nightlife district, Octave has been conceived as a stylish haven for both local residents and visiting tourists to luxuriate in a comfortable setting while enjoying delicious tapas-style dishes and refreshing drinks, far above the bustling street-life below.
A multifaceted venue, Octave occupies interconnected spaces on the upper levels of the hotel tower, offering a variety of options for patrons, ranging from a laid-back lounge ambiance on the lower level, private indoor dining rooms and more intimate bars on the mid-levels, to the spectacular open expanses of the rooftop deck bar for the ultimate high-altitude drinks experience. Guests arrive via dedicated elevators to the 45th floor reception- and the main bar and lounge zone of Octave. Set across an open deck space that spans one side of the curving facade of the building, an impressive bar crafted from stone and solid timber stands at one end of the deck- with the DJ booth at the opposite end. Generously spaced sofa settings extend across the glass fronted front edge of the deck, with a section of timber bench tables set into back wall offering an alternative seating option.
Internal and external stairs lead up through several levels of smaller, intimate spaces before arriving at the expansive wooden decked rooftop. Commanding centre stage on the rooftop is the lustrous circular bar- constructed from LED lighted translucent panels that bathe the rooftop deck with a muted blue hue. The sparsely furnished rooftop deck features seating settings at either end of the deck, with mostly open spaces around the central bar and DJ station.
Octave opens daily from 5 pm- with the early crowd streaming in for the obligatory rooftop sunset cocktails and Instagram opportunities. A further enticement to come early is the Sundowners promotion of Buy 1 Get 1 on selected drinks at the rooftop bar only. The mood transitions later in the evenings when the resident and guest DJs spin tunes on the rooftop generating a more upbeat party vibe. For a more laid-back atmosphere, patrons can opt for the comfort of the sofa settings on the main 45th floor lounge deck, where DJs play chill-out tunes at levels not intrusive for conversations. Already staking its claim as one of Bangkok’s hottest new nightspots and rooftop experiences, table and lounge sofa setting bookings are strongly recommended- particularly for end of week / weekend nights.
MODERN TAPAS-STYLE SHARING CUISINE & MASTERFUL COCKTAILS
The bar food at Octave is up there with the best in town- a compact selection of delicious modern tapas-style dishes for sharing over a few drinks with friends. With a focus on fresh seafood- oysters, crab, prawns, tuna– servings are well-proportioned and offer good value. Asian-influenced dishes such as yakitori skewers of meats and seafood, sashimi and tempura, and bucket of wok fried prawns with sweet dipping sauce, are complemented with international comfort style dishes like wagyu beef sliders with truffle mayonnaise and crispy spiced chicken wings. The specialty of Octave are the signature platters- both seafood and the sumptuous Octave Signature Platters– sized for sharing between 2, 4 or 6 persons.
Supplementing a thoughtfully assembled beverage service that offers selections of premium spirits; wines, champagne and sparkling by the glass or bottle; local and imported beers; and non-alcoholic mocktails; the bar team at Octave have carefully crafted a concise list of 9 signature cocktails- each with a finely honed and distinctive taste profile- deftly mixed from the finest premium spirits and local fresh ingredients. Standout drinks include “Bloom over the Roof”– Red Berry Tea infused Ketel One Vodka, fresh mint leaves, Elderflower syrup; and “Purple Ovations”– Butterfly pea & lemon infused Tanqueray Gin, Luxardo Maraschino.
Octave – main bar & lounge on 45th Floor
Guests arrive through glass doors on the 45th level that open out onto the timber decked space that spans one side of the building. The DJ booth stands within a water pond adjacent to the entrance.
The deck space includes a slightly raised platform area of undercover teak bench tables and timber wall paneling.
A series of stylish black woven rattan lounge settings are placed along the low glass walled edge of the deck space- offering comfortable relaxation while taking in the views and drinks.

Upper Level Bar- 48th Floor
A further level up from the main bar is another, more compact, open-air deck space and bar. Drinks only are served on this level.

On the uppermost level- a completely open deck space is anchored by the stunning circular bar standing in the centre of the deck.
