At its Bangkok base, in addition to the original Jim Thomspon Restaurant & Wine Bar housed in a reconstructed traditional Thai teak building within the compound of the heritage mansion that was the residence of the enigmatic Jim Thompson, another cafe is located at the imposing flagship Jim Thompson Thai Silk retail store in the heart of Bangkok’s Silom retail district. The casual sophistication of Cafe 9 sits harmoniously within the elegance of the luxurious silk products showcased within the flagship store. Set within a quiet corner on the upper level of the Jim Thompson retail emporium, Cafe 9 is a relaxing haven serving all-day traditional Thai and Western home-cooked style dishes, refreshing beverages and delicious desserts and cakes.
Typifying the hallmark Jim Thompson culinary philosophy of- “absolutely Thai, Thompson-style”– the Cafe 9 menu features a compilation of both authentic Thai dishes and popular Western cafe dishes such burgers, sandwiches, pasta, salads. Dishes that exemplify the traditional Thai cuisine of Cafe 9 include the ever-popular Tom Yam Goong– hot and sour soup with mushrooms, galangal, lemongrass, shallots, bird’s eye chilies and prawns; Phad Thai Goong Sod- Traditional Thai-style fried noodles with prawns; and Gai Thod Kua Kra Tiem Prik Heng- stir-fried chicken with dried chili and garlic.
Beverages available at Cafe 9 include fresh tropical fruit drinks and smoothies with flavours such as lychee mint, lychee ginger, and mango lime; Thai herbal drinks; local beers; house wine; gourmet Jim Thompson Vienna Roast coffee, and special teas- including the signature Jim Thompson Mulberry Tea.
Cafe 9 is located on the upper level within the Jim Thompson Thai Silk flagship store in Bangkok, opening hours are daily from 9 am to 9 pm.
