BarSu is a stylish lounge bar / club located within the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit in Bangkok- but with convenient direct street level entry from Sukhumvit Road.
Having undergone a total “make-over” in 2007 with new interior design and fit out, plus a new name and concept- BarSu has emerged as a popular venue for sociable and fun nightlife. The concept has been defined around the theme of “eatplaydance” and presents an ambience combining fine dining , an excellent range of cocktails and drinks and an eclectic music mix that appeals to a more sophisticated over 30’s clientele.
The elegant interior design is centered around the striking circular main bar, with comfortable bar seating all around the bar, plus seating at round bar tables in the immediate bar area. There is a lounge area on a raised level behind the main bar area- with comfortable lounge seating and some private semi-circular booths for more private and relaxed conversations. The furnishings and furniture have a distinctive style consistent with the sophisticated theme of BarSu.
Back on the main level, there is on one side of the room a special wine area, offering a large selection of quality vintage wines and champagnes- attractively displayed in glass fronted chilled wine racks. And moving round the room, the next area is the dance stage and DJ booth- with large screen multiple LCDs display wall. On the opposite side to the wine area is the open kitchen where fresh seafood and sushi ingredients are displayed, and meals are prepared by the BarSu staff.
The food menu has been created by the Sheraton’s renowned Belgian chef Yves Mattagne, and has been designed for sharing. The selections include Japanese sushi, tempura and yakatori, fresh oysters, and seared fishes and meats. There is also a good selection of tapas dishes and bar snacks, and tempting desserts.
The BarSu bar has a great selection of innovative and classic cocktails- including the always popular mojitos, margaritas and martinis, plus special creations such as “Thai Dreamer”- based on a mix of fresh mango, 42below vodka and lemongrass. Otherwise all the premiun spirits are available, plus imported and local beers, and wines from the cellar.
And for the “play” element of the BarSu theme- DJs are nightly playing from an eclectic mix of music ranging from soul, jazz, blues, funk, rock, house & remixes as well as a few old tracks from the 70s and 80s that get the crowd moving. There is no deafening back-ground techno and the DJs play the tunes without too much fanfare and “celebrity” performance.
More “play” options at BarSu include popular “Ladies Night” promotions every Wednesday evening- with ladies drinks for just Baht 150 per glass, and the “Happiest Hours” on weeknights where drinks are Baht 250 per glass, plus a complimentary buffet of tapas dishes.
