Renowned nightlife impressario introduces New York-inspired sophistication to Seminyak dining & club scene

Making considerable waves in Bali’s up-scale nightlife scene since opening in September 2013, The Townhouse is the latest venture of nightlife impresario Mark Baker. A celebrated veteran of New York’s club and lounge scene with a resume of venues that includes some of NYC’s hottest celebrity hangouts like The Double Seven, Lotus, and Buddha Bar. Seeking a change of pace and fresh challenges, Baker relocated to Bali to establish Townhouse in the bustling Seminyak dining and nightlife neighbourhood. Comprehensively re-modelling a prominent building in the heart of Seminyak, the transformed five level structure now houses a unique assemblage of sophisticated, boutique dining, cocktail and lounge experiences for a fashionable and glamorous crowd. Drawing on his New York experiences, Baker has selectively infused Townhouse with the aesthetic of his previous venues to create the kind of stylish, exuberant, albeit discrete entertainment preferred by an A-list type clientele.
A truly multifaceted venue, Townhouse features distinctly themed concepts on each of its five floors, ranging from an all-day cafe and cold pressed juice bar on the ground level, to a chic cocktail lounge, exclusive club (modeled on the famed Double Seven of New York) and a rooftop garden terrace. - All-day casual cafe serves a menu of well-executed international and Asian comfort dishes, combined with a cold pressed juice bar branded SQUEEZE (the Bali iteration of Baker’s successful The Juice Press brand in New York), with a contemporary photographic gallery adding a colorful background context to the space.
- CANVAS Bistro on the second level is currently a stylish private dining and event space- with a sophisticated brasserie-style decor of black leather banquettes, timber herringbone parquet flooring, and raw brick walls.
- Entering the third and fourth floors from the vintage elevator reveals the intimate club and cocktail lounge- tastefully decorated with an aesthetic of toned down luxe. Weekly themed parties and a roster of high-profile international DJs make Townhouse one of Seminyak’s hottest late night party venues.
- Accessed by external stairs from the fourth floor outdoor terrace- the Townhouse rooftop features a garden terrace that enjoys an unobstructed 360 degree panorama across Seminyak and the nearby ocean. A combination of woven faux rattan armchairs, semi-private cabanas, and laid-back tunes from the DJ, engenders a relaxed chill-out vibe. Open from 6 pm, the rooftop is an alluring option for sunset drinks and bar bites.
