Cocktails and dim sum amid verdant greenery of outdoor Garden Terrace in heart of Central
September 12th, 2014
Duddell’s has garnered considerable acclaim within its first year of operation – culminating with the award of a Michelin Star in December 2013. An avant-garde concept that melds together an accomplished Cantonese restaurant, art space, and salon and bar into a harmonious sociable space for conversations, art appreciation, and sophisticated dining and libations, Duddell’s embodies the creativity of its founding partners – successful restaurateurs Alan Lo, Yenn Wong and Paulo Pong. Occupying a double level space within the prestigious Shanghai Tang Mansion, Duddell’s is conveniently located in the heart of Hong Kong’s Central district.
Conceptualised to represent the residence of a wealthy art patron – a series of art spaces on the entry level lead into the elegant main dining room – with the upper level comprising a series of interconnected spaces – library, salon, cocktail bar, and an expansive outdoor garden terrace. The Garden Terrace has become an enticing destination in its own right – a delightful green oasis in the centre of the city – serving refreshing seasonal cocktails, wines and champagnes. Additionally, guests can order selections of the consummate dim sum, snacks and rice and noodles from Duddell’s Michelin -starred Chef Siu Hin Chi. In addition to the daily dim sum combinations the menu features Cantonese delicacies such as Crispy Eel with Sweet Chili; Marinated Pork Knuckle with Jelly Fish; and Braised E-Fu Noodles with Roasted Duck and Enoki Mushroom. The popular Salon Brunch is served weekends both indoors in the Salon, and outdoors on the Garden Terrace – Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.
Cocktails at Duddell’s are expertly crafted from fresh seasonal produce and the finest premium spirits to create a list of signature reinvented classic drinks. Well-balanced flavour combinations often feature an Asian inflection with fragrant botanicals, and fresh local culinary ingredients. Stand-out examples from the illustrated Duddell’s Libations Menu include the 5 Spice Margarita – the classic margarita has an Asian influence with cinnamon and vanilla tequila, fennel seed, clove and grapefruit juice; and the The Straits Sling – a reinterpretation of the classic Singapore Sling – with Gin, Kirschwasser, Benedictine, fresh lemon juice, Regan’s Orange Bitters, Angostura Bitters and topped with East Imperial Soda.
The Garden Terrace at Duddell’s is open daily (weather permitting) from 12:00 pm, with the Salon Brunch served on weekends between 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Table bookings are recommended. And special events, functions and promotions can be found on the Duddell’s Facebook Page.
