Since opening in late 2009 Cafe Gray Deluxe has received international and local acclaim for its refined contemporary design and modern European cuisine. Sophisticated all day dining in the “grand cafe” is complemented by the adjoining Cafe Gray Bar which entices with polished mixology and understated luxury. Occupying an impressive double volume space on the 49th level of The Upper House – a celebrated small luxury hotel standing above Pacific Place in Hong Kong – every seat enjoys wonderful panoramic vistas across the cityscape and Victoria Harbour. In the cafe, the kitchen serves a variety of menus over the course of the day – breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, while at the bar, refreshments and cocktails, plus a compact bar menu, are served all day from 11 am.

Design   The Upper House was conceived as “a haven of calm and quiet taste” with local architect Andre Fu creating an interior design that exudes a comfortable interpretation of modern luxury. At Cafe Gray Deluxe, the exquisitely executed decor features a palette of warm greys, champagne gold and deep lilacs, accented with bold elements like the long marble counters at both the open kitchen and bar, and the spectacular external views. In addition to the main dining room, a series of semi-private dining alcoves extend opposite the open kitchen. The bar section comprises an impressively long marble counter, with intimate corner banquette settings arranged along the window frontage, and a spacious lounge area set behind a curved, slatted wooden screen.

Cuisine  Seasonal menus designed by consulting chef Gray Kunz feature organic ingredients cooked to his signature style of modern European cuisine with Asian and American influences. Dishes from a recent menu that exemplify the culinary identity include the Tandoori Spiced Crab Cakes, and Grilled Organic Chicken with Lemon Confit and Oven Baked Celeriac. The sumptuous Afternoon Tea menus are legendary – regularly highlighted by special collaborations with famous lifestyle and fragrance brands.

Cocktails  A favourite among Hong Kong’s fashionable set, Cafe Gray Bar is a vibrant destination for evening drinks while perched at the long travertine bar counter. An impressive wine list and polished cocktail program are agreeably supported by a compact bar menu. Recently updated, the signature cocktail list features proficiently crafted reinterpretations of classics – exemplified by the House Martinez – made with G’Vine Gin, La Quintinye Rosso Vermouth, Orange Curacao, orange bitters, and lemon oil.

Cafe Gray Deluxe and Cafe Gray Bar open daily for all-day dining and drinks. Table reservations are recommended, and smart casual attire is requested.
