Casual neighbourhood restaurant serving cuisine inspired by the flavours of the historic Spice Route
December 16th, 2016
A new casual dining concept from Jakarta’s celebrated Potato Head – PTT Family lifestyle and dining group – Attarine recently opened in a vibrant South Jakarta neighbourhood. Serving a modern cuisine that melds influences from North African and Middle Eastern spice markets into a menu of flavourful dishes, Attarine offers a relaxed atmosphere for family or social dining amid the PTT Family’s hallmark rustic-chic decor. Featuring a spacious layout of simple wooden tables – together with a large communal table and counter dining seats – the high-ceilinged space is centred around the wood-fired oven and open kitchen. Open all day for casual morning coffee, lunches and dinners, all-day dining is complemented by a polished bar service with an intriguing list of spice-inflected cocktails and mocktails.
Food Locally sourced seasonal Indonesian produce features in the menu of well-conceived dishes that draw influences from the heritage of the spice trading routes and markets. The versatile wood-fired oven roasts vegetables and fresh whole fish, grills meats and bakes fresh bread all day. Standout dishes include the Wood-fired Whole Fish that is seasoned with sea salt, long pepper and bay leaves; Roasted seasonal vegetables such as baby-corn with chilli, dried mint and cheese curds; and the Lamb Shoulder Chops with saffron braised onions and garlic, topped with walnuts, olives and pomegranate.
Drinks At the bar, equal attention is paid to both cocktails and mocktails, with well-executed twists on classic cocktails and spice-influenced taste profiles. On the beverage list must-try cocktails include the Roasted Bloody Mary and Souk Mimosa; while standout mocktails feature sophisticated complexity in drinks such as the Coffee Mint Lassie and Matchacha Tini.
Attarine opens daily from 11am, serving a lunch menu until 4pm, and then dinner from 6pm. Check out the Facebook Page for menu updates and details on the monthly The Chef’s Table culinary events.
