August 1st, 2011
The distinctly unique combination of bar room and restaurant in Hong Kong known as Lily & Bloom opened to considerable fanfare in August 2010. One year later as they celebrate their first anniversary, both venues have carved out a stellar reputation within the competitive and ever changing dining and bar scene in Hong Kong. Located over two levels within the LKF Tower at the head of the bustling Hollywood/Soho nightlife district, Lily & Bloom continue to delight both regular customers and first time visitors. The both venues are entered from the 6th level of LKF Tower- with the bar / lounge of Lily occupying that level, and the restaurant Bloom being accessed via a stairway to the lower 5th level.
Recent night at the LILY bar
Lily & Bloom is a suffusion of the style and character of the 1920’s and 30’s Prohibition era “speakeasy” bars in New York, with elements of the Parisian brasseries of the early 20th Century. The concept, design and unique furnishings were conceived by renowned New York design studio AvroKO – and the design has won the award for “Best New Restaurant Design Worldwide 2010” by the respected industry journal- ha+d (hospitality, architecture & design). The owners and operators of Lily & Bloom are the established Hong Kong food and beverage specialists- BUZZ CONCEPTS- their other premium outlets include VOLAR, HALO, Fly and GUSTO.
The “New York” style interior of Lily has the essential elements of natural timbers and materials, the unfinished, raw “industrial” effect, and an attention to intricate details. The main bar in constructed from exposed bricks with a polished black granite counter top, fronted with chrome and padded black leather bar stools. Classic herringbone pattern timber parquetry flooring is complimented by dark timber wall panellings , ornate black cast iron screens, and a ceiling over the bar of recycled old timber planks. The furnishings consist of black leather banquettes, dark timber tables and leather upholstered chairs. Subdued lighting effects from table top candles and overhead lamps create the dimmed atmosphere of the Prohibition era speakeasy bars.
The bar menu is focused on the classic cocktails and libations of the past century- examples- the Mint Julep– woodford reserve bourbon/mint/long ; Espresso Martini– ketel one vodka/espresso/something sweet/up; the Market Caipirioshka – seasonal fruit/ketel one vodka/lime/sugar/down. The Lily bartenders will prepare non-listed classic and signature cocktails to request.
The OLD CUBAN– ron zacapa 23-year rum/lime/sugar/mint/prosecco/up
The CLOVER CLUB– raspberries/tanqueray dry gin/lemon/froth/sugar/up
The kitchen at Lily serves a supper menu- and conveniently with the last call up to 30 minutes before closing time. Choices include Long Island Calamari– pepperoncini, marinara & garlic aioli; Spicy Noodles– fried oysters, crab meatballs & coconut red curry broth; Roasted Bone Marrow– red wine shallots & salsa verde; and Charcuterie Platter– prosciutto, salami, rabbit rillettes, country pate, pickled white asparagus & grilled peaches.
ROASTED BONE MARROW
Lily, and it’s sister venue, Bloom restaurant, attract a discerning clientele who appreciate the inimitable style and attention to detail presented by both venues. The classic cocktails, complimented by the sumptuous temptations of the food menu and late kitchen closing, make Lily an ideal choice for either pre-dinner cocktails, or a destination for late evening drinks and supper.
