Chic urban bar with an impressive cocktail selection and open views across Victoria Harbour

Red Sugar Terrace Hong Kong

September 7th, 2017

The newly opened Kerry Hotel – an exuberant, contemporary space perched right on the Kowloon waterfront – is home to the speakeasy bar remarkably dubbed as Red Sugar.  A quick jaunt through the creative installation by Adrian Wong leads to this luxurious, industrial-flavoured interior welcoming you with an earthy palette, thanks to its red-brick walls and bronze accents. The room is decked with a balanced layout of soft lounge seats in blue and orange. Hanging tropical plants brighten up this urban oasis, beautifully embellishing the floor-to-ceiling windows that offer breathtaking views of Hong Kong Island’s skyline. Outside is an open terrace surrounded by lush greens, committing to the idea of an urban oasis consistent all throughout Red Sugar’s design. At night, spotlights illuminate the al fresco experience as you take in the beauty of Hong Kong’s skyline.

Cuisine. Red Sugar offers a brilliant bar snack menu to complement their inspired drinks range. Its signature dishes include Deep Fried Crispy Tofu, an easy snack as you enjoy the lively night scene, and the Seared Pork Jowl sprinkled with garlic flakes and black pepper for that spicy, flavourful kick.

Drinks. Boasting a stunning drinks list created by Bar Manager Joe Villanueva, Red Sugar has you covered from contemporary cocktails to serious Scotch. For starters, have a sip of Aperol Mojito, a youthful concoction of mint, orange, lime and soda water. For those ready to hop into something more fun, a dive into Popcorn Sour, one of Red Sugar’s favourites, gives you the taste of salted caramel popcorn syrup mixed with a 10-year-old Bourbon and Aquafaba. Have yourself some bottled cocktails to go, but if you’re ready to stay, gaze into the international selections of wine covering the continent’s bests, or choose to indulge into the bar’s extravagant collection of malts, cognac and whisky that will impress even the connoisseurs.

Red Sugar is open from 4 pm to 12 pm Sunday to Thursday – and 6 pm to 1 am on Friday and Saturday, as well as the eve of public holidays.
