Tokyo bar internationally acclaimed for its unique cocktails enhanced with herb liqueurs & bitters
October 23rd, 2017
Established in the Ebisu neighbourhood of Tokyo since 2010, Bar TRENCH is a characterful urban bar that exudes a cosmopolitan aesthetic. Referencing vintage European bars with its dark timber facade with windows overlooking the street, pavement planters and petite dimmed interior, Bar TRENCH serves a drinks list of classic cocktails and drinks formulated around herbal liqueurs like Absinthe, Picon and Amaretto – plus a vast range of bitters. Together with its nearby sibling – Bar Tram – both bars have attracted considerable recognition by local and international cocktail enthusiasts, repeatedly featuring on various “Best Bar” lists.
Dapper head bartender, Brazilian-Japanese Rogerio Igarashi has put together a compilation of intriguing cocktails that includes vintage libations, modern classics and Bar TRENCH signatures. With an impressive back bar replete with bottles of fine spirits, absinthes, rare herbal liqueurs, and Japan’s largest selection of bitters – the bartenders reward guests with drinks like the signature Artichoke Julep – made with Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Cynar, Abbotts Bitters and black pepper; and the absinthe-inflected Uplifted Morning Glory – with Nikka Whisky, Cocchi Americano, apple cider reduction, lemon, egg white, absinthe and Bob’s Bitters. In addition to the regular cocktail list, Bar TRENCH also offers seasonal speciality creations with well-priced drinks to please all tastes.
Bar TRENCH opens every day of the year except the New Years Holiday – on weekdays and Saturday from 7 pm until late – and Sundays from 6 pm. Music also features at Bar TRENCH with regular performances by guest jazz and acoustic musicians – perched precariously on the upper-shelf behind the bar.
