Hidden alcove library within Foxglove serves travel-inspired cocktails – premium whiskies and cognacs
August 14th, 2018
Discretely concealed behind curtains within acclaimed retro-themed jazz speakeasy Foxglove, Frank’s Library is a recently opened secret library and cocktail bar. Inspired by the fictional Foxglove host “Frank Minza”, an adventurer-traveler and extravagant party host, Frank’s Library features a collection of his personal “Travel Diary Cocktails” – showcasing his latest libation discoveries. Featured drinks include barrel-aged cocktails, house-infused spirits and premium whiskeys and cognacs. As a speakeasy-within-a-speakeasy, Frank’s Library offers a refined destination in the heart of Central for intimate celebrations and indulgent rendezvous – and is the latest concept from the Ming Fat House – the group behind quirky “hidden” concept venues Mrs. Pound, Foxglove and Dr. Ferns Gin Parlour.
Behind the bar, Foxglove Bar Manager Derek Tsui deploys his progressive cocktail skills with six new cocktail offerings including the Mad Tea Party – a sweet mix of Johnnie Walker Black Label, apple juice, Earl Grey tea and caramel sugar, and Catch of Tea – served in an elegant porcelain teacup – a combination of Teeling small batch whiskey, Tieguang tea syrup, chocolate bitters and citrus.
Other cocktail menu highlights include The Barrel Aged Vieux Carre – made with H by Hine VSOP Cognac, Bullet Rye whiskey, Cocchi Barolo Chinato Red Vermouth, and a variety of bitters; the Iryūjon (or illusion) – created with Four Fox sake, St. Germain, yuzu and Angostura bitters. The Gummibär is a mix of Osmanthus-infused Tanqueray, goji, lemon juice and honey, and completing the featured cocktails – the Savoy Truffle – a blend of Oolong infused gin, honey and a heavy whipping of cream cheese foam. Servings of bar bites accompany the cocktails – complementing each libation’s distinct flavours.
In addition to its seasonal cocktail menu, Frank’s Library offers selections of potent barrel-aged cocktails – available as single or shared servings.
Frank’s Library is located within Foxglove at 18 Ice House Street, 6 Duddell Street, Central – opening nightly from 6 p.m.
